Well yeah. But I was referring to the way the thread topic was spelled. And if CDL was plural and owned a wallet the apostrophe would be after the s.

You guys are making me laugh so hard it's hurting me. Way back when I was in high school my History Teacher had it out for anybody that used the words "ain't" and "yonder". That summer (1974) was when I was snake bit by a "poisonous" Timber Rattler. By the time of my 2nd bite in 1977, I knew better and was bit by a "venomous" Timber Rattler. in 1977 I was home on leave from my Air Force duty station and got bit on my right buttock. Oh, the "do you need a chair to sit down" jokes I had to endure once I finally got back! My C.O. even had to do it!

Your chances are pretty good. All trucking companies have to bow to the whims of their insurance companies. There are multiple insurance companies so they all have different requirements. Usually, if you haven't had two moving violations in the last two years you are good. Every company is different. You will more than likely have to go to a CDL school to get your CDL, depends upon your state.
I went through the unemployment office of my state. I told them I was a veteran and I wanted to retrain to be a truck driver. They said they couldn't help me. Bummer! But after pecking around on the computer they came up with a different pot of money! It's a Federal Program called WIA. Workforce Initiative Act, now its the WorkForce Initiative and Opportunity Act. It's a pot of money set aside back in Roosevelt, Eisenhower...bla bla.. dead Presidents time, to help those needing retraining.
All you have to do is find the school closest to your home that trains for CDL. Go to the Unemployment office and ask them if they have funds available for the WIAO program at that school. If so they will cut a check and send it to the school to cover your tuition. It's free.
You already have experience so that should be easy. Next, you have to get a job at a trucking company. Remember the companies are run by their insurance companies. So go apply at some of the big ones. They are generally a little more lenient on new drivers. After you have worked for them for a year then you can switch to some of the other companies that offer you better benefits because you now have a year of experience under your belt and the insurance companies see that you aren't a risk. -
Here's my question. Were you walking backward? For a snake to bite you on the butt you must have been walking backward. I've heard of people getting hit by lightning several times but never bit by snakes several times. Here's a thought perhaps you shouldn't go where the snakes are! Sorry I digress!
-
No, not walking backward. Some rattlers for whatever reason lose their rattlers. The one that bit me was such a critter. Several of us were walking single file through the thick brush near the bottom of a small hill that ended in a creek. Years before several large trees for some reason had been cut and the stumps were 3 to 4 feet above the ground and near the top of the stumps, small limbs had started growing. None of us could see or hear the snake and I was the 2nd to cross. My butt was only exposed for just a few moments. The snake was out in the early morning sun sitting on top of the stump. I knew that area was crawling with all kinds of snakes but we thought we could get through. The first time I got bit I was helping another guy make $25 a snake. At the time there was a Contractor working with the University of Georgia trying to get as many snakes they could to make antivenin. I just got careless and got tagged on my right arm.
