Frankly...mercer has lost a boat load of freight since August of 2018... And when you factor in the amount of deadhead folks have to do now it makes the rates garbage which in turn makes the loads garbage for the most part.... It's a shame to see how far a company has fallen for whatever darn reasons it happened they aren't recovering....

You mean it's not as busy as it was during the highest freight volume surge in history? Ya don't say.

Name one company that is doing as much volume as they were in August of 2018. You can't because it doesn't exist.

That's pretty good, I think ill buy a old CRST gold freightliner and lease purchase a trailer through mercer and get out there and make the big dollars!

Did I expected to drop off a bit from the record highs of course I did... But for it to go flat dead like it dead no... I spent 27 months at Mercer the 1st 12 and a 1/2 or great The last 13 months was an absolute joke and frankly still see in what I'm saying in having people deadhead 4 and 5 600 miles on a regular basis to Chase loads that after the deadhead don't pay diddly-squat is pathetic.... And the person I spoke to in Louisville few months back who happens to be pretty reliable source even stated that his coordinator is even saying they don't know what happened it's just dead...

I heard Mercer has lost alot of good guys, and recruited alot of low quality folks that dont know the difference in good freight versus bad.

    Just sayin

Well dont go to Mercer then, you'll be one mean mother focker. They like to nickle and dime us to death and most freight they have is cheap and lots of dead head.

Keep yo mind on yo money, and yo money on yo mind

The quality of owner operators has been going down for 15 years. That's just how the trucking industry has changed over the years. The good guys get old and retire and the pool of replacements is filled with less than ideal candidates used to be you could keep high standards and only lease on guys with their own equipment and trailers with 5 plus years of experience. If you tried to do that today you wouldn't have 300 trucks. That isn't a never thing. That's an industry thing that all the good carriers struggle with. Landstar and Bennett have the exact same problems we have.

What you aren't getting, or choosing to ignore, is rates and volume are way down for every carrier. Go to landstar or Bennett or any other open deck carrier if you think you can do better.

If I was as unhappy as you and some others claim to be I would of been gone a long long time ago. Takes about 5 minutes to pull a door sign off and replace it with another.
