From somebody moving in the other direction?
I was travelling between Lubbock TX and Clovis NM today. No traffic and running along at 75 MPH. Noticed a car on the other side pulled over with their flashers on, and a semi moving over slightly as he passed them. I moved past the semi on the other side just as he moved over going around the 4 wheeler, and WHAM, a rock hit my windshield and left a half dollar sized star. Never been hit with a rock from a vehicle on the other side of the road before. Scared the #### out of me. My first rock damage on my new truck. Made me sick.
Ever get hit with a rock..........

Yep. I've bough 3 windshields in the last 4 or 5 years. The one that really drove me crazy was in OKC, some a- hole tossed a rock from an overpass and hit my freshly painted hood. It left a mark about as wide as my fingernail. Less than a week with new paint.

Back in the 70's, the boss had a 73 chevy painted in Houston. I was sent to the body shop to get it and bring it back to dickenson to the yard. I was told to be careful as he was just going to sell it.
It was around mid day and no one at all in front of me when I topped the ship channel bridge on the 610 loop, when a bolt came through the windshield, never had any clue where it came from. lol -
Last week in a construction area I got a windshield chip from a stone or something.

I got 2 rock chips in just 1 week last year. One of them was right smack dab in the center of my driver side windshield, so I had to look at it dead on all day, everyday. To this day I still have no idea where that rock came from, but it scared the bejesus out of me when it happened

Way back in 2005 or so I was driving down a two lane road one night, headed back to the yard. I was running a CH Mack, which at the time was the best truck I'd ever driven. I came down a long hill, around a bend and WHAM!
I saw a flash just a split second before it hit the windshield. To this day, I've no idea what it was, but it ripped the bulldog's head off and sent it into the windshield. Fortunately it didn't break it. The next morning I was out looking over the truck, and all I could find was my beheaded bulldog, still standing proud, and a bent Wilson 2000 antenna (which was only a week old)mustang190 Thanks this. -
I've had 2 instances where a passing vehicle hurled a rock at me so hard it actually blew the inside layer of glass out all over the dash.
stuckinthemud and SeeJayneRun Thank this.
