I am currently driving a Crete truck that I bought from them. I would not buy from them again.
However...
If Crete indicates that the entire DPF system has been replaced, (NOT just the filters) in the last 50k miles, AND that there has been a full engine rebuild done on it in the same timeframe, then maybe.
I say this because:
1) Crete does not put APU's on their trucks, they use Opti-Idle, which basically means it pumps lots of low temperature emissions through the emissions control system, which gunks them up pretty badly. Mine failed at 499700 miles, 300 miles before the warrantee ran out.
2) Crete changes oil at absurd intervals. Right now my truck is in the shop for a full rebuild due to a cracked head and bad cylinder/liner. I suspect this is at least partly due to the oil being changed by Crete at long intervals.
If you decide to do it anyway, be sure to get a warrantee. While I am very upset at how little the warrantee company did cover, I paid @5,500 for it, and they paid out @11,000 of the 17k that they should have paid, it still doubled my investment.
Honestly, I suggest finding a company that sells trucks that have always had an APU installed, AND who can document oil changes every 25k miles or less. I would not buy from Crete again.
In fact I won't be buying used again, but that's a whole different conversation.stuckinthemud, catdog45 and Cat sdp Thank this. -

If you plan to lease your truck purchase to Crete, make sure to check your numbers carefully and include downtime for repairs.
Crete pays $1.18 or less per miles depending on length of miles. Plus fuel surcharge. I am sure they have plenty of miles to run for these rates. -
I am an o/o at Crete, but I am on an account that is almost exclusively drop and hook, and almost never see a load less than 600 miles. My rates run from 1.05 to 1.10, but I would have to earn at least 1.25 or so per mile to make up for wasted driving time if I was not on a drop and hook account. -
How much does Crete pay for Fuel Surcharge? Do they pay FSG for all loaded and empty miles or only loaded ?

Why would anybody trust their future with a bagged out, beat flat ex-noob training truck? Many better trucks out there on the market.

It might seem like a small thing, but it indicates better care of the equipment out in the field.O.Henry Thanks this.
