Yeah its a 1 battery all it does it start the truck. You can't draw from it and people have let there truck sit for 2 weeks up north without starting it in the dead of winter. They come out and it starts right up.

It's just a simple capacitor. Still needs juice from 3 batteries to charge it. The benefit is that it can output more amps than a traditional battery to spin the engine over faster. And because you won't have the heavy draw of the starter on your regular batteries they should last longer.

I have no idea. But it better be a long freaking time considering regular batteries are only 75 to 100 bucks each.

Do not use deep cycle batteries. They are made to discharge down and then be charged up. That will never happen in your truck. Waste of money, and wont help u up Nort. I know...i live here. Just regular batts are all you need....idle your truck at anything under 20 to keep block warm and oil flowing. Cold starts are engine killers. No or thick slow oil for a few secs will kill ur cyls. Use 5w40 for cold weather. It can help.

I kinda like the idea of having separaye juice for getting the truck started but not sure id ever use that battery sized capacitor for it. Ever seen even a tiny capacitor blow? They can do some damage.

Deep cycle batteries last longer during hotel loads. I shouldn't be replacing batteries every year due to my hotel load

There’s a reason that no one uses deep cycle batteries as the main batteries on a truck.

I've had a Maxwell capacitor for years, took it off the old truck when I got this on nearly four years ago. I has to be wired correctly, most shops have no idea at all how this is done. You do not want to install just four deep cycle batteries, I wasted money using expensive Optima batteries along with my Maxell unit. Truck system does not charge them the way they need to be charged, they do no last nearly as long as they should, it was a huge waste of money. I replaced them with three batteries from my local dealer that are dual-purpose and are OEM on the trucks. Those are way cheaper and will last longer. AGM batteries will not charge properly from a truck, I cannot stress that enough.
