Catching up to swift , a race to the crash.

Logistics of mail packages very time critical , so now when ELD in effect you really have to step on gas to make delivery on time . We need to look on end of 2020 to see if ELD's helping with safety ...

 

This isn’t really a good statistical analysis. You are comparing swift to 2 different types of transport company’s. Swift operates tractors only and is the largest with more vehicles than its competitors. If you have that many more vehicles, you are gonna be involved in more accidents. That’s the key word of the data you included. “Involved”. Which means half of those could be the other drivers fault

 

I'm surprised FedEx' numbers are that low. It's not surprising, though, that there crash numbers have increased in direct correlation to how many more white Volvos they've added to their o/o fleet.

 

Very good point as it stands to reason the more vehicles a company operates the likelihood of having more accidents. It looks like the accident ratios between Swift and UPS and FedEx are drastically different. You don’t see many 25,30,40 and 50 year safe drivers at Swift.

 

The numbers show drivers need more time to drive safely. Looks like the companies need to learn about driving in real time and not the old way of just picking an average speed and telling driver you HAVE to make it.

That was an old trick the companies liked to play on paper logs. Instead of admitting they book loads to tight. They would say you have drive faster and longer hours.

1st define involed

I was a swift driver and only had one wreak that was not my fault a drunk driver crossed the medium and Unfortunately I was in the wrong place at the wrong time...and I could not avoid the car....

Long story short he had to get medevac by helicopter to hospital and both my truck and his car was towed. ... so I was "involved"

And those statistic numbers dont tell the whole story how many million miles per involved accident...

How many was the fault of the truck driver...
But you're cherry picking statistic that fit you're assumptions run with it I guess...

 

Well to be fair you dont see that with 99.9% of any OTR companies....
