I was driving today on i84 as I got check engine light then later got yellow wrench and it started derating.
I pulled into rest area and had code for exhaust leak and it wanted me to do parked regen.
I saw there's hole in bellow/flex pipe after downpipe. I called service and guy came to take a look at it.
He took flex pipe off and took it back to their shop.
He said its so thin that he can't weld it and wrapping exhaust tape around it might still cause a leak. He should be bringing a new flex pipe tomorrow.
Are codes supposed to go away once new part is installed and no more leaks?
Trying to deliver this bs load before Christmas so I can be home with my wife.

I'd wrap the tape around it. Drive to a shop or truckstop. Anything not to use that road service guy.
    (1) He should have showed up without a new flex pipe.
    (2) He had to go back to his shop and examine it, to determine he couldn't weld it?
Ya I'd have more faith in a freshman year diesel vot student.

The integrity of the exhaust system is critical to the Emissions system.
Yes, after you repair the hole. Do the parked regen, that should clear the code. And you'll be good to go.
The yellow light may still be on for a day or so, but as long as the hole is fixed and it was able to do a successful regen it will clear the code in short order.

If he unhooked the battery cables for awhile would that help reset things? No?

I dont recall any specific codes that come up on the dash indicating there is an exhaust leak. Did the mobile tech at least have a laptop to verify what code it is?
The exhaust after turbo pipe is common to leak. There is probably something else wrong as well that needs to be repaired. It needs to get on a scanner/laptop. Most of things are a waste of time.

It said right on the dash Engine fault-exhaust pressure fault. Then later wanted me to do parked regent which I tried to do but it was blowing lots of smoke out of flex pipe and was taking like 40 minutes. I knew tech was coming so I turned it off so it can cool off before he came. Got pretty hot, I saw asphalt started melting underneath exhaust system
