The only time it’s “OK” on a new Truck is if it’s caused by a “ cold” leak from a silicone hose, which should seal up. Might want to snug up any clamps while it’s good and hot. Dealer says it’s normal? Gotta love that!!!

Considering the Trucks in the shop getting an inframe, and some other goodies too heavy for my abilities. I can only be grateful I’m home and not stuck out somewhere to be devoured by the wolves, or paying a 800 mile tow bill. Next year should be more productive. I’ve been slacking off too much lately,I knew the days on my engine were numbered, I kept babying it along. It’s no surprise. All in all I can't complain, it could always be much worse. Hopefully it will give Me another 10+ yrs of good service.

Your probably living up Northh there with 10k per year property taxes- Your fixed expenses are High ( Personal household,family etc) And you have to wotk hard to match it.

You gotta work smarter rather than harder- Quit thinking "miles" From chithead Brokers who shave rates cause they can.....Get yourself some contract customers-Whom will stay loyal to you,And work a steady pace.

I feel bad that you had to kill yourself to get by, Not the way to do it.

I was losing a gallon to a gallon and a half every full day driving.

Have a shop run a pressure test on your coolant system. They should be able to find an external leak quickly. If they cannot find a leak, try replacing both coolant reservoir caps.

If you still are losing coolant, get an oil sample, and have them test exhaust, and look carefully at fuel for discoloration matching the color of your coolant.

That's my suggestion anyhow. A gallon a year is probably not anything major. I suspect an overflow reservoir cap that is allowing steam release at a bit lower pressure than it should, or a main reservoir cap that has been cross threaded and doesn't quite seal perfectly.

EDIT ADD: Also, check your coolant mix and chemistry. If it is more than 50% water, or if the glycol is degraded, it will boil at lower temperatures and/or freeze at higher temperatures. One of those issues could be causing you to lose a bit of coolant volume. The other could create a severe problem for you in seriously cold weather if your block gets cold enough overnight.

Was ok more hometime was good .Truck is pay of long time ago.Now 3.5 weeks home for christmas.

 

Last year was like drinking from a fire hose, this year has been like trying to eat the fire hose. Freight just picked up though this past week, seeing rates come back up to 2017/18 baseline...I have a good feeling about 2020 for some unspecified reason. I'm keeping my helmet on though.

I think you need to rethink either who is your mechanic or your choice of hotels. At $100 a night you would have been there 30 nights...

 

I was paying about 100 per night, yes, but I got a decent free breakfast every morning, and a large room with a mattress that wasn't either a brick or sadly pathetic.

I was there for a month, yes, for a variety of different reasons that would take more than a little time to explain in detail.
