I didn't go out today... have been recuperating from a nasty respiratory virus infection and today I was just MISERABLE.. wasn't even coming here... but felt a little better this evening and decided to check out the thread... It's going to take a few more days to get better... but I'll be ok... good thing it's New Year's Holiday and I don't have to go out for nothing if I don't want.. or don't feel good. I rather get better soon cause the first week of January is going to be very important, very decisive and I will need all my strength to deal with it...
Wish you all a very safe Sunday wherever you are and will catch up with y'all another time...

After reading here... glad I passed on my load tonight. Was gonna take one out short at midnight.
NE511 showed i80 completely covered near terminal. Supposed to continue all night. I stopped in grand island. Shows roads normal on 511. We’re getting blasted with snow. Warm snow.
Glad I’m sitting this out.
Think it’s wise.Rocks, 2old, kemosabi49 and 2 others Thank this. -

Saw a truck the other day belonging to a company called Hidden Creek Transportation.
Thought to myself, "If I started following them, eventually ...."D.Tibbitt, Dave_in_AZ, Snailexpress and 2 others Thank this. -

Drive a big truck come home and drive some more on the computer desk. Ugh. Especially when I encountered the limitations of simulation design back then. Im running a 4 video card rig and it can do whatever sim i cared to put on it. Although I am in a position now that i will be considering a rebuild to replace RAM and replace the 12 year old plus video cards after one burned out.
Simulations are quite good considering. Backing a trailer or backing a bobtail to hook on is pretty much very close to actual doing in a real truck. Without the side to side suspension and transmission plus 5th wheel slop etc. I don't think the modelers wanted to put in too much fine physics because again they can only do so much in a sim. The shifting is my issue. I wish they would include honest to god 13's 18's and whatever else in there instead of a generic looping 4 speed pattern. But that might be asking too much.
One of my favorite simulations is related to either a B17 or a B29. It comes from wings of power related to FSX air simulator from Microsoft. The engine start process on the B17 or '29 is step by step throwing switches in the correct sequence or its not going to work. The manual that came with it is like a half inch. But in the end the plane is as close to the real life as possible in those days 15 years ago.
Online Multiplayer? Not so much. We lost something back in the early 2000 era when people became toxic for lack of a better word. I don't mind gaming in a battle situation with 63 other people and have beta tested with Novalogic in a 254 person server that cascaded failed down to 144 before resuming the battle map. That took 10 minutes of waiting as that massive server dumped so many slower people. (Connections etc) Once it was back up and running the resulting 130 man battle was pretty epic.
However people have gotten toxic. Also weaponizing certain features of the game. For example if so and so shot torpedoes at a enemy warship, a teammate who does want bad things for you can get you perma-banned by sailing directly into your own torps and get teamkilled. And the server bans you and you do not have a game product anymore or ability to access same.
The other problem with gaming is that micropayments for essentially everything that are add ons or modifiers to make you effective.
Its not all bad, however I have gamed long before there was computer anything we had older mechanical games back then from the 50's and 60's and they were pretty cool. But fast forward say 50 years in my lifetime to now plus and see the games coming out in a variety of things like your own Cell phone? Thats a bit too much for me. So I turn into a dinosaur as the years go by.RidgeRunner731, D.Tibbitt, Dave_in_AZ and 1 other person Thank this. -
I’m sitting here in Grand Island.
Still snowing. Supposed to till 6pm.
511 says travel not advised on i80. Completely covered.
I’m gonna stay here a while.
Company needs me. Lotsa freight this weekend. I know they’d love me to go until actually closed. It’s my call and entirely my responsibility. All my blame if something happens.
I can’t go playing Supertrucker.
I’ve made it just ahead of two storms in the last month. Barely made it.
I feel like I’ve already pushed my luck. No more. Not this one.RidgeRunner731, Rocks, austinmike and 4 others Thank this.
