Check pressure CAC , Check Hose that runs from Air Comp to Intake check for a leak ( lose of power bad mpg automatic). Your tuned to 550 you only gonna get 5 or 6mpg. If its a BK series Detroit or PK its the Premium Detroit high compression ratio. With your set up sounds like your mpgs are normal. I got a Reman Detroit Ddec 3 GK series Small compression i get 7 with Winter blend . 7.8 Summer . I got the borg warner 171702series non waste gate turbo 3.42 rears 10sp. My boost only 25psi . If i go with a waste gate turbo for more boost my mpgs would drop 6 6.5 on a good day.
I bought a APU for my truck my Fuel bill dropped $300 a week easy . Your running local shifting alot and doing stop and go. I dont think your fuel is gonna improve . Your basically doing what i call pizza runs. That detroit needs to cruise.

Nervous to use the high flow filters since I'm doing quarry work and in the dust alot. Restriction gauge stays low only up about a bar or so until the filter starts to get a little age.

    Tires are closed shoulder Yokohamas.

I guess I'll check the cooler anyway. Can't hurt. Leid diesel in PA did my tune and overhaul. Don't let anyone else mess with it.

I'll check those things you have listed. Not sure on how to figure out what series it is. Serial number I'm guessing. If you don't mind letting me know where to get that info I can see if it's a high compression engine or not.
My runs are usually at least an hour away so I'm getting highway miles. It's not all around town. I'm looking to see if I could improve it because we have some guys with similar setups doing the same work getting 6+. I'd be happy to see anything over 5 consistently at this point.

Thanks for everyone's insight. It's greatly appreciated.

You say local work. Lots of starts/stops? Lots of shifting? You'll never match the fuel mileage of cruising down the highway at a steady pace if you're trying to negotiate traffic in a city environment.

Just about everywhere I run is at least an hour away. Spend alot of time running the Baltimore beltway so I see plenty of highway miles. Only around town long enough to load and get out. Several other trucks I work with have this setup and seem to get 6 or so. That's why I'm looking into it.
    Thanks again.

If you got a wastegate turbo you can adjust the boost on the linkage . Gotta becareful when doing it . Seen a vid on the tube how to do it . Lowering your boost will help mpgs and egts

Ok I will look into that also. I will be in touch with the shop that did my tuning and see if they could maybe cut the boost back in the tune. Maybe it would save some money on another turbo as this one is fairly new. If not maybe try the turbo swap. Thanks for the suggestion.

I will run with the new exhaust and filter for a few days and see how it's going. I will post an update. Thanks again

You only lower boost with your foot, boost is made by fuel input.

The biggest fuel mpg increase you will ever get is with disciplined driving. Have a boost gauge and try to keep it under 20 psi. No parts can increase mpg more than the drivers foot.

Boost gauge is in the dash. I'll pay close attention to that and see how it goes. Thanks for your input.
