That's one part, the axle rating, but Indiana the steer limit is 12,000 NO apu allowance.
Louisiana and Mississippi are 12,000 but have the apu allowance.
But when dude calls you in when you roll over the scale at 12.4, and looks at your truck and you're rated for 12, then you're gonna have some 'splainin to do.
I seen a dude in Oregon checking tire pressures on some guys steers with a heavy axle.
What if it Snows?

Maybe, sometimes after a fatal wreck, some drivers never drive again.D.Tibbitt, WesternPlains and LtlAnonymous Thank this.

Those type of wrecks, will affect some more than others,
Usually when at night, alone with your thoughts, a mind can let you see things..
Like a little blue car disappearing below the hood of a 379 before it slams into a car driven by an old woman, yes she pulled out infront of you, yes, her husband was in another car behind her they were taking hers to the shop.
Why she stopped at the stopsign, waited for the last moment and pulled out, noone will ever know,
Even though, you slowed down, expecting her to tub the sign, then hadti lockthe brakes, though it didnt help..
but for a while, you will wonder things line,
Did she see me?
Did she turn at last minute and see?
Is there anything more i could have done..
If I wouod have left, one minute before or later, would the outcome be different.
Then calling for help, though you know its to late and being there with her husband for 35 years and nothing you can say or do, while he tries to get to her
It affects. Sorry for the tale, but its trueRidgeRunner731, austinmike, D.Tibbitt and 5 others Thank this. -

DOT here, is big on measuring the width of the tread on the tires. There is a spec on the actual amount of tread on the road, versus weight. Doesn't matter the rating of the tire or axle. Can have the rating, but fail on actual tread.
DOT said it's because people were buying narrower than needed tires.
People here are great at being cheap.RidgeRunner731 and Rocks Thank this.
