I wish people would define driver.

Drivers are that, drivers, they may work hard and not have the ability to work smart.

By the way, you used the term station in life, it means what class you were born in which we don't have a society based on class here. Here you have the ability to make it what you want.

 

You have the luxury of perspective, you know what the alternative is like, so you're actually grateful for what might be driving someone else insane. First hand perspective is the most valuable thing you can invest in

 

Posting and making threads isn't for everybody.

 

Some people cant be away from their family, The last guy I attemped to train, I was driving of course, going to let him observe for a bit, but within 5-10 miles out of town out came a photo of his wife/kid and he went to bawling.
I am talking like you were never going to see them ever again type.
Maybe 10 minutes, me turning the radio up, him crying, I stopped at Searcy.. 45 miles away, I told him, “We’re not going any further.”
I called the office and they sent a guy in the company pickup to come get him.

With some jobs you don’t have the option of “working smarter”. They just have to get done. Hard or not.

Unless of course, you become the boss man and start pulling all the strings. Then I suppose that could be considered working smarter. Lol

That time the landing gear crank disappeared along the way and I had to use elbow grease to lower the landing gear to drop the trailer

I love my job. Admittedly, I've only been doing this a year. My view out my window is always different. I get to see all of this beautiful country, and sunsets, sunrises, and awesome vistas. I can take time off anywhere in the country, to see family, friends, or do things on my bucket list. My fleet team is the best in the country. My company has great benefits and an awesome culture. And they pay me to do this!!! I feel so proud every time I get in the drivers seat to know I get to drive this huge powerful beast, and be part of keeping america moving. I am in love with the awesome power at my control. I love being one of the heroes on the road, by being a professional driver and representative for my company.
Research companies to find a culture that fits you. Study to see what kind of job you want. Theres a flavor for every taste in this industry, from home daily to never home; from no touch freight, to touch every piece twice.
About the only way trucking isnt for you is if you have health issues that ban you, a driving record that bans you, bad habits that ban you, or you just hate driving.

 

This job and trucking companies are like shoes. There isn't a pair of shoes that fits everybody. If you find an expensive pair made by the best designer with the most expensive leather and sown by virgins under a willow tree while harp music plays, it means nothing if they are too big or too small for YOUR feet.

A lot of people enter this industry with ZERO research and ZERO knowledge of them self. When that "mysteriously" doesn't produce raging success it is somehow the fault of the industry. The failures can cry until they are out of tears. Nobody can expect to succeed with no research and no idea what they are doing.

The job is not suited for MOST people. It is perfectly suited for many people. Nobody can make you understand you.
