I just find it nauseating when they sound like the bad end of a trashy trailer park.

If I want to hear incompetent people yelling an emotional response I'll go to the local bar or protest, Not turn on the "news".

When Ted Turner started up CNN, and said that the it would be profitable, the other media execs laughed.
CNN made money, a lot of money. Suddenly the news operations at the other networks now had to kick into for profit mode. The new model was that they had to at least cover 100 percent of their cost, but really the corporation wanted it to turn a profit. No longer is the story with facts and an unbiased view important, now its the the eyeballs that the time gets, and what will make those eyeballs come and stay. The more eyes, the more they can charge for advertising during that time slot. Higher rates, is higher profit potential. Facts and real things of importance are not what sells. News is now a modified form of entertainment. Designed to manipulate your emotional response to the subject. It has nothing to do with agree or not. It has all to do with what happens after the sound bites. As long as you responded, they got what they wanted. A reaction.

Maintaining and passing a car through Maryland Inspection was absurd. Even trying the emissions as I did once after I put the dual holley on there for laughs actually generated results that were quite good. Then going to get tags? for what? 165 dollars in fees for two years? Something around that? ugh. And insurance? I was priced out of the normal retail and had to get it direct from the state.

Compared to Arkansas that charged me very little for insurance and maybe 30 bucks a year for a set of tags no emissions anything and no inspection anything it was a joyful time here. We did continue to maintain our cars but had mixed success and a couple failures actually. One vehicle's engine threw out it's mains killing the crankshaft balance which ate into the mains even more until the whole thing quit running. There was not enough beef left to rebuild on. Literally a disposible engine.

My current vehicle is on it's THIRD 350 v8. The good thing is those things are simple. The bad news is that if you did not love on them and take care of them they will go bad on you. I sometimes wonder what dear uncle sam would pay for it if he was ever so stupid enough to run another cash for clunkers program again. (Which was what this vehicle escaped from once... with a second crate engine) and by a round about auction system I eventually became it's owner on a third engine with 75000 miles on it. It just put it's first 1000 miles on it since I bought the #### thing 7 years ago. I don't drive it very much. But she is doing better.

If I tried to register, inspect, emssions that old thing in Maryland? They would laugh me out of there so badly. I probably would slap a set of 25 dollar historic tags on there and take off. If they were smart they would have retired that class of registering totally.

Ordinary flu is bad enough, but when you are the lucky owner of H1n1 in a class that is lethal, its really bad. Its going on almost 20 days since I got it and am still recovering in some ways. It actually attacked my brain and for about a day I was not functioning very well We lost 8 last week and 5 the week before.

I was one of 76 cases that week that came up with A type and h1n1. There were 850 that came up with the flu in Arkansas that week. Most of them common run of mill B's and so forth. I also had updated MMR with a booster last year plus a permonia shot as well to defend against bacterial infecting that would try to fill the lungs with fluid until you drown.

If I read the chart right, about 24000 in Arkansas got sick enough to go to the ER but did not test positive for any of the Flu types etc. The same week I went. This is week three, last week two report shows about the same number has gone to ER suspecting flu. And not so many type A's but more type B's etc. (This is the one where you generate vomiting on one end and spew wastes out the other end so it's really bad for them) I rather have the burn or the fire of the fever. Im used to that.

As far as the h1n1 for me, it's almost 20 days and I am still fighting the last of it when you consider various symptoms that are not exactly normal and clear just yet. One of my caregivers is cooking a hell of alot of food, particularly meat products this month so the food bill is higher this month. Much higher. She also got infected from me but two specific tests showed that she did not catch any form of flu or strep. It is obvious to them that her Federally paid for Immunity was working. They could see what they called anti gens in the blood that the body sends out to fight whatever is invading it. It was much higher than normal.

I am happy to work on a older non technology vehicle today. The fact that the #### thing is 1996 or so is a asset in my book. None of the bells, alarms, whistles, beepers and so on for every little thing you are not doing correctly in driving if you were driving properly at all.

If I replaced that vehicle it will be going further back again to the 70's and use crate technology where necessary. The more they regulate today's new cars and trucks, the easier it is for me to look for much much older vehicles.

That's pretty awesome. We are getting some freezing rain here in Arkansas actually. Just a dab of it where i am but more of it towards I-44 and such. Much more.

The birds are going crazy on whats left of last week's seeds. there is another 30 pounds in my living room that will go out tomorrow morning because if they are arguing over it today tomorrow it would be very welcome to them. I am supporting about 20 pairs of birds in around 7 different speices and about 20+ visitors who occasionally show up but are not regulars just yet each week.

    Good Lord...

I’m sure I’ll be next. At least according to the weather reports it will only be tomorrow, so at least I won’t have to go out and do a peddle run in it.
