There are some that are on the market today, but you are required to carry a USA Pilots License for them. And a log book to record your flight hours in them. I would not imagine setting that thing down somewhere, putt to a gas station and fillup. Too many people might dent or ding something on the #### thing. Its just not worth it. There are a few that are operational today. And even though it's Private, you still are under FAA's controlled airspace when necessary and under filed flight plans in certain parts of the USA.

I for one refuse to deal with robot trucks, I foresee a minimum wage job herding them from curb to dock. Or perhaps chasing after them deep in Wyoming after they have for lack of a better term, gone wild; and need taming.

Not to be disrespectful but, how come all the people who experienced and miss the "good old days" failed to pass on any of the morals, manners, values, or lifestyle?

I will say two or three sentances how. I ask the mods to let me go this route this once even though Ive been in trouble for that in the past.

An AMERICAN long haul trucker from those good old days will understand everything. You aint going to teach any of that to a sandal wearing immigrant from across the sea who is a refugee from our wars and took up trucking as a way of making very good money. He or she WILL NOT give up anything and everything they are. They will not be bothered to carry on any of the tribal knowledge imparted by the old ones who remember the good old days, those days are gone. Those of us still alive today which is my generation (Im mid 50's) when we pass on, that's it. Trucking can go on to whatever they like as robots replacing the human costs, risk and expenses of same. Over my dead body. (Might as well be...)

Do toasters and clock radios earn more respect than you, too?

That has turned out to be a totally empty threat. Case in point:
After 9/11 the FHTSA made a requirement that all interstate named highways have exit numbers that coincide with the mile marker they are located, instead of the then common sequential numbering system. The idea was, and it was sound, was to help first responders in an emergency determine instantly how far they were away from the scene. Example: If you are at mile marker 50, and the accident is at exit 77, you know you are 27 miles away.
Well, there are several states that still have not adopted the idea, New York, Vermont, New Hampshire among them, citing costs. The Governor of NH called it an invasion of states rights and has refused to allocate the money.
No money has been withheld. After 20 years.

Good point. Like back when the Feds threatened highway withholding for states without primary seatbelts laws. States soon realized it said had to have a primary seat belt law. So they made primary for say, kids then secondary for other age groups.
