    Cheap trucks, better than $120, 000. Iv had some that worked out and some didn't, the ones that didn't cost a lot of$$, sounds like you are doing ok, saving money, have a plan , I like the truck , not the engine, a Detroit is cheaper to rebuild.

    A friend bought a ‘94 FLD with the lower HP N-14, for $7k.

    The truck has been a nightmare money pit, $30k plus in repairs.

    I watched him make the fatal mistakes along the way.

    Here’s my advice - a blend of the above -

    Find a truck late ‘90’s - 12.7 or N-14, well taken care of. SAMPLE OIL, INSPECT. RIG DIG REPORT.

    Park it up and go through it replacing, repairing, protecting etc till you’re satisfied it’s ready.

    Have access to another $20k in cash (we used credit), before taking the plunge.
