I was born and raised in Long Beach and now live in Irving. Dallas traffic in no way compares to L.A., not even close. The 405 is a parking lot during rush hour and stays like that until 10 pm. 635 is bad, but it is usually flowing, unless there is an accident. 35 is really only bad through downtown. 30, same thing as 35.

Texas is truck capital, you can find a job anywhere in the whole state and be home everyday and make more then OTR drivers. Let me know what you find out, because I plan to move there too to southern Texas. It's a great ideal

I currently live just west of Austin. Forget the politics for a minute, I think it's one of the most beautiful places in Texas and Austin has a lot to offer, in addition to the Progressives. I think we all get along though. What's bothersome is seeing so many Cali license plates...that scares me.

I don't blame you for being bothered. Most of the ex-Californians you're getting are the people who couldn't make a go of it in a state that coddles and enables people who don't want to put forth any effort.
When they finally run out of social assistance programs...and that takes far too long...they move to other states. Like Texas.
Believe me, you're not getting the cream of the crop.

My family moved from California to Texas when I was 17 in 1995. My dad had a job paying 85,000/yr at the time. We moved because his job in California was being phased out so he applied for a different position with the same company in Texas. I don’t think any of what you described there applied to us. Good try, though. “A” for effort.

Read my post again. I said most ex Californians, not all.
I admire your loyalty to your family but you need to work on your reading comprehension.
