Dont u love it when the broker dont tell u the shipper closes at 3pm and meanwhile i pull in at 310 and they stilll wont load me sucks, i still had 4 hours to drive was hoping to kill some miles off and get this load off in the communist state by wednesday. Well that plan is out the window now. Looks like thursday it is. Maybe find a good weekend run and then head home for a couple days

I Made it to reciever today, 30 minutes early in Irving, Tx.
Great place. You walk to the top of stairs where sign reads, “Drivers must sign in & wait for attendant.”
So, you climb the steps, its an empty, cold room that the door doesn’t shut all the way.
You stand isolated for 45 minutes, finally, some safety guy (so it read on his flashy pink colored safety vest) wanted to know, “What you want?”
Me “I want someone to tell me where they want this. Guard said dock 4, but its blocked by a crane.”
He looks at BOL, “Go to 5.”
“Its the end of building, where is dock 5?”
Gotta leave property, go to redlight go right go to next block turn into back of building.
So stand there 30 minutes, noone in sight. Go walking. Go to flatbed/tanker loading site talk to some lady on forklift, she radioed to send a forklift to dock 5.
An hour later speedy shows up.
He unloads half. Lunch time.
One hour later. He finishes. Signs paperwork, I tell him to right the in/out times showing me being there from 0930-1330.
Suddenly, he doesn’t speak english.
We had words, I know by his facial expressions, he understood.
Call broker. He says, “I’ll try and see about getting you 30 minutes detention”
Whatever, I gotta go, I get my reload.
Then.. I get a call as I am getting back to loop 12, “Your next load had been pushed back 3 days!”
Me.. “No, I am not waiting 3 days.”
They, “Well,it’ll be ready on the 3rd day at 1800. It still has to be in Kansas City by noon the next day.
Take me off, I not waiting three days, two nights.
I go to the “terminal” in grand prairie.. this thing is full!!
I got the last spot accidentally.
Not looking good, if all these trucks are empty, and the rates out of TX like this.
I will be at the shelter a while..

I would not stick around without a dang good reason. Expand out your search radius and find something to get to better freight. With a van I had O.K. luck out of Houston doing HazMat.
Restock supplies you may need first thing in the morning and boogie out man. DFW area has never been good for spot market non specialized freight.WesternPlains, LtlAnonymous, x1Heavy and 2 others Thank this. -
