Approved by who? That's what I am telling you to verify.

Yes, all of the companies with whom I have spoken approve this school. It is an accredited school in a major city. The only companies who might not hire from it are some of the megas that have their own schools. Say man, you are making comments like you think I am automatically someone who doesn’t know how to do his homework. Check this out...I’ve got this covered, ok? You made your point, and I thanked you for your input. Now you are being annoying and seeming like you just want an argument. I don’t want to argue. Now kindly leave my thread alone. Please.

If you had this covered, you would not have started this thread. That said, despite your rudeness, I wish you well.

Rudeness? Whatever, dude. I started this thread because companies that say that they approve the trucking school I have chosen have also mostly told me that they do not do pre-hire letters. So, my question was whether or not I should focus on obtaining pre-hire letters. Pretty much all of the experienced drivers who responded determined that in my circumstance it is an unnecessary pursuit. You started counseling me on only applying at places that hire from this trucking company. Again, you were talking to me like I am some ####### stumbling through this without a clue. There was absolutely nothing rude about what I have said to you. Now, if you want to see rude, I am capable of bringing rude out. Have you anything worthwhile to add to this discussion, or are you going to continue to drum on about the same "apply only to companies you know hire from that school" point? If you have nothing more to add, then kindly leave this thread be. That was not rude. Now, if you want to see what rude would be...

in. I would not give much thought to pre-hire letters. Besides to be honest you don't need them. You will either do one of two things. You will either pay for the school yourself or you will get company financed school. Either way, once you finish you are hirable with most any carrier that trains. Put your energy into passing those written tests and the basic outline of the pretrip. The rest of this can wait.

Unless you need a WOIA or WIA grant to pay for school don't bother getting a Pre-Hire letter. They are as meaningful as a hooker saying "you are her type." The letter doesn't promise anything and nobody was ever not hired for lack of one.

Raise your right hand and repeat after me. I (name) will only work at an employer that will hire me. Now imagine a trucking compay saying they will only hire you if they need drivers and you qualify. That's your pre-hire letter.

I appreciate your feedback. Now, I do understand your point, but I fall under neither of those two categories. I am having my school paid by government grant (WIOA). I never would have thought of seeking pre-hire letters, but the recruiter at the school suggested that I get at least one. Anyway, because I am running into so many companies telling me that they don’t do pre-hire letters, I am going to focus my energy elsewhere. Thank you again for the feedback.

I am using WIOA, but I have not been told by a WIOA caseworker yet if I will need pre-hire letters. If I do, then I may be in tough spot. I understand what the pre-hire letters are for. I only started seeking them because the recruiter at my chosen school suggested it would be a good idea to get at least one.
