Why are American port drivers being treated so poorly?

Automobile manufacturers employed a lot more humans than buggy manufacturers, whip makers, hay farms and horse ranches ever did. Plus there are all the car mechanics to fix the things and oil workers to fuel the things. The car made daily longer-distance commutes possible so there were more job opportunities due to faster commutes than by horse. But all these California metro area traffic jams: I think the horse could even beat a California traffic jam for a morning work commute.

That's as smart of a question as "who is going to put the bell on the cat's collar to hear her coming" in Aesop's fable about the mice who were trying to invent an early warning system for the cat so they could easily escape back to their mouse hole when she was coming.

No one has money to buy their stuff because nobody has a job left. How long are unemployed humans going to be able to continue charge for their stuff on credit cards and bank loans until they have no cash to make payments? Are we in for an astronomical-debt-driven Orwellian future?

See The Lorax by Dr. Seuss to learn that no good outcome ever occurs when corporate capitalism is off like a runaway freight train. It's going to derail sooner or later.

Why would anyone tolerate working a hundred hours per week only to owe their employer?

If you stick around for that sort of treatment then you are a masochist.

I believe most OTR guys are working 100+ hours a week, getting paid for 70 (if they are lucky), why do we keep coming back?
