On my 379 i bought a resignator from truck pro i think it was and bolted it to the passenger step box under the door.the box hid it since the length was bout the same.oh and i flipd it around so the flow was actually less muffled.always a mellow hum....the kind that makes u not care if u getn paid cause u sound so coooool ha. Pipes were 6 inch straights with 3406. Hope u can makes all this out.
Dave1837 Thanks this. -
If you get headaches easy don’t straight pipe. My w9 sounds amazing loud as all heck. But, it gets annoying at times and I ask my self why??
But I have a friend with a 2017 glider 3406 cat 700+ hp. He for most part took the stock stacks and beat the muffler comb inside to mess it up and gut it kinda. Make it louder. Sounds mean and not crazy loud .If you got the money to spend on straight stacks I’d say do it and add a small muffler under neathDave1837 Thanks this. -
I have a cat and Detroit both straight piped. My Detroit is like an ar15 lmao obnoxious but no crazy drone because of the stack in the rear. but my cat stacks are on the side and it’s droney afDave1837 Thanks this.

Right now I'm driving a straight pipes 475 C15 with 7" stacks. I'm not too crazy about it. It sounds awesome but it's waaaay too droney. I'd run the straight stacks on mine, but with the little 36" sleeper it looks kind of doofy. I have heat shields around both of my mufflers and love the way they make the truck look but I worry if I buy straight stacks then I won't be able to keep them. I'd like to find some hollowed out mufflers somewhere

Right?? I can't even explain to people how that thing sounded. It grew on me after a while though. I was coming up to the Ohio toll booth on I76 and I had the engine brake wide open downshifting then I saw the DOT sitting on the shoulder. By that time it was too late so I kept on shifting lol they gave me some dirty looksD.Tibbitt Thanks this.

The high flow Donaldson M100463 sound good, cheap & and good flow. Work easy for you too since you're running heat shields. Straight through design..
I had 2, running up by the doors. The dummy shop I had change out a rusted through one stuck a M100465 on the passenger side by accident. Sounds weird now with that one over there, but you can really hear the difference in the high flow version. Almost like a straight compared to the new one.. -
Ok, so I decided to put a 30" muffler under the 05 379. When I got it it had a little short muffler that someone had put a pipe straight through. Had two brackets dropping from frame rail that the inlet and outlet were clamped to and a real short piece of flex between outlet and t pipe. Truck has 7" straights with Pickett elbows reduced to 5" for connection to t pipe with short pieces of flex. Have problems with flex breaking at all connections to t pipe. I think it is too ridged for the floating cab. How are they supposed to be supported from turbo back to t pipe?

I'll have to look into those. Thank yousinglescrewshaker Thanks this.
