One of the security guards told me it will be part of their job. He said Amazon was going to pay for their CDL and they would drive as need locally.

The guard used to be outsourced but I guess 2-3 years ago they became Amazon employees.

The day cab drivers are amazon employees, they get paid to drive the same as they get paid to be warehouse employee, or a guard position. The guards also double as yard jockeys and the ones with a CDL also drive the day cabs.

now maybe the day cab drivers get a little extra because they have a CDL but it ain’t much it’s still hourly, and that hourly isn’t much more then what they get now.

No, but I have yet to see the new daycabs at the Amazon on Mojave street in Phoenix even move, they have been just sitting there, as far as out on the road, only have seen O/O or lease looking types pulling the Amazon trailers.

That's what I saw at their Mojave St facility in Phoenix, three axles and two axles, seems like overkill for just local work, they look like linehaul spec to me, but I could be wrong , it definitely won't be the first time a company has established their own linehaul though if that's the case.

I saw an amazon volvo day cab pulling an Amazon trailer in Florence NJ last week. I still can't find any info on starting pay or even how to get started.

I live in the South where wages are low. Entry level truck drivers make $18/hour with a fair market value at $20/hour for one year of experience. I could not imagine someone putting up with all the idiotic aspects of driving for the same level of pay as someone working the dock.
