Y'all just concerned about the tarping? On I-5, some of those W. E. trucks think it's running across Nebraska....I guess they are always late....70 down the I-5 in CA proves these "drivers" aren't Mensa members. At least they take the pressure off me at 63!

I got my start back with western. I had a good trainer but I took pride in what I did. It has something to do with you as a person. I didn't want my tarp blowing at all. I was observing of others going down the road with tight tarped loads. I had different sizes of tarps in my arsenal modified a couple along the way. It got tiring quick in the cold & sun using oversized tarps for small loads. I learned a lot from other flatbedders that I'm thankful for.

I learned a lot from other flatbed drivers too. Tarping takes a lot of practice. Some loads were easy, other loads that were odd shaped was a different story. I got better with each load. Now I pull reefers lol

Well its better than the system transport driver that was loading next to me the other day i spent a good 2 hours padding and putting protection on straps and freight then another 2 hours tarping. And system driver threw 2 tarps over his load. The type of tarps like the blue ones u use for camping or covering ur pickup truck bed. I thought he was just using them as protection against his real tarps but nope he just threw straps over them and hit the road, i couldnt do nothing but shake my head and laugh

You did it right then. Integrity, work smart, and learn from others. Regardless of the company peers.

But the question does remain - I guess it boils down to company expectations and trainers.

Say what you like about TMC, but I’ve always been impressed by their ‘presentation’ on the roads.

I'm still doing flatbed with a covered wagon. I'm on a dedicated coil account. I might be changing soon.

A driver brought one of those in where I load Aluminum coils. They kindly told him that it not going to work here & sent him out the door.

That's so funny man. That's the ultimate in lazy. Those rinky drink tarps ain't gonna do squat lol. I love the drivers that dont tarp at first but as soon as it gets cloudy, they hurry up and tarp at a rest area or under a bridge on the side of the road

Some places don't allow tarping on the property.

No getting on trailers what so ever
