I understand that, my insurance didn't go up and was just renewed a couple months ago, and I don't exactly have a perfect record.

That place is great to load at, atleast the times I've loaded there. Before I even get my rack set up hes got the coil waiting... I've never seen rates that low although haven't loaded there in several months.

Well Falcon basically single handedly drove down automotive freight in the the midwest to a substandard rate. They were cut throat pricks. They couldn't be successful in market they controlled, van, or flatbed.

Still dont understand why guys hauling steel accept a flat rate or CPM so low. Your getting screwed. The rate on a 47k coil is about the same as 47k in a van. It's just another "legal flatbed load". Moving away from a "per hundred rate" your leaving money on the table.

Which is why I run for a per hundred weight rate with a 40,000 minimum.

You are probably hauling for a different customer than I get.

They are fast, I'll give them that. Very efficient system from check in to loading to check out.

More than likely. But like any cheap load, no need to pay more for it when drivers are taking them at the cheap rate.

    Boy you got that right!

Still cannot understand how drivers and carriers can afford to run freight at a loss. When a load doesn't even pay the fuel to haul it, that load is a loss. I certainly can't afford to do what I call charity runs for some corporation.

Of all the costs endured by trucking companies, the most volatile and sensitive is insurance. If this was a factor, it could a single problem or many issues. Rates are tied to all the usual potential problems. The single most important thing any insurance company considers is the "risk factor."
