Guess I dont know better. Thats why I have a red beenie hat from 1975 and still in use daily. It says Awful Awful. If you lived in RI in the 1970's you would know about the Awful Awful (yeah I know, you will internet search it. Grin)

 

Today is do the impossible day. I hsbe to be 130mi away in less than 2hrs and be in Houston by 4am with 8hrs and 43 min on my drive clock

 

Been watching youtube videos of Pandas. I confess that I must be a racist. They all look the same to me!? Adorable!

 

Time to unleash the beast, then.

 

Made to my pickup at 1:30 on the dot. Now I have 6hrs and 52 min to go 7 1/2hrs to the SE part of Houston.

 

Well. I got unloaded this morning, sleeping infront of gate at van buren, my reload is in memphis, my appointment is 0900. So I am at the Petro in West Memphis! I am so lucky to be here by club road! The can call it MLK road all they want, it used to be club road, cause if you walked around after dark you got clubbed.

I still have 6 hours, and been here for 2.5, its super windy.. 3.2 mpg avg today..

 

Storm conditions essentially here in central ark, got sick and tired of fighting it.

We believe in icing conditions before sunrise tomorrow. We'll see.

 

Yeah.. I didnt know anything about appointment until I made it about 3 miles from here.
I would’ve went across Hwy 64, straight up 67 and went home, only about 40 miles outta the way, now it’d be 184 round trip.
Gotta love the unexpected appointments.

 

I did not realize it at the time but we are essentially neighbors. There was a wonderful truckstop in newport that burned. I remember the staffing, the ladies and gals did wonderful meals and service. Particularly when I staggered in covered in diesel and battle stains fighting my truck that one day. Had 4 of them wait on me hand and foot for a spread.

This was back about 1994. And I guess that was one of my formal welcomes to Arkansas that morning. I never, ever forgot that. Its too bad I cannot find them to repay them. I wont be writing too much but I leave you with two links.

This is 64 vilonia road at 67 Beebe interchange on 5 mile grid. Looks like 34ish at sunrise prior three hours. I have to take spouse to VA for her surgery and am medicated and resting as I write this trying to decompress from today. So we will do battle with that pavement and wind down to 28F we have a good car for ice, and my truck is pending all terrain tires that I hope will work somewhat on ice. Once I set the tires on it, I need to order chain all around. It's never ending.

Todays traffic in north little rock can shove it. Three vehciles forced me into a short stop, like I didnt see that coming (I do... but its like F you im going. etc kind of attitude) like a t bone with that? Thats NOT the time for that BS.

But #### the road food around here is GOOD GOOD GOOD.
