I've never run Minnesota in the winter and I've been seeing #1 diesel for sale. Should I fill my tanks with it instead of #2? Is it better to buy #1 or to buy #2 and treat it? I read that Kwik Trip winterized diesel is good, but should I also treat it? If you were going to treat the Kwik Trip winterized diesel, at what temperature would you start treating it?

You'll be fine with northern/winter blend #2. If you park your truck for extended periods and the temps may go well below 0F, then #1 might be worthwhile if it's allowed by the company [if that's the case]

If I bought fuel there I'd buy #2 and treat the heck out of it beginning at 32 degrees. I prefer wi and nd fuel during winter. Avoid biodiesel in the cold. Mn has some law mandating the use of biodiesel, which would be fine if they ratcheted up the % in the summer and lowered it way down in winter. Maybe they do I am not sure. I learned the hard way when I was a new driver in 2008. Never again.

    Canadian fuel for the win!

20 years ago I used #1 up there, half and half. Now, like was said, the new winterized stuff, #2 should be fine. But, I would recommend finding straight #2, not that bio diesel crap. If you are running that watered down garbage, I would throw in some #1.

Bottle of Howes in each tank if using biodiesel blend in winter should prevent any problems.

$$$$$ Why would anyone use that crap in their motors, the bio? It is high in water content, algae in tanks and then the injectors and other costly parts, like emissions. It is beyond me why anyone would subject their livelihood to this voodoo fuel.

If its all that's available or if your company dictates which fuel to use, youll have to use it.

Well, I own my truck, and will only use that crap as a last resort. And only in small amounts to get me to real fuel. Another reason to avoid fleet trucks when looking to purchase a truck, they all run this crap fuel. Pilot and Flying J load theirs down with this stuff. Thank God Mom and Pop fuel stops are still out here.

And don't mind me, I'm into the beer. I did not mean to come across as a smart ***. ;-)
