Regarding the OP situation with RA, I think for anyone that needs reduced physical activity look for a company that does Drive Away. This often means that the tractor and trailer are already hooked up. Your responsibility is to pretrip it and drive from point A to point B. It doesn't get any closer to No Touch than that.

 

Barring that, be sure to get a long, heavy fifth wheel puller hook. The short ones do not allow you to use your body weight as effectively when pulling.

I carry two hooks. The short one works fine most of the time, and is much easier to store and retrieve from storage.

Every now and then, I cannot release the 5th wheel with the short puller, and grab the long one. I have never found a 5th wheel I couldn't release with that one.

With your conditions, I would simply stick with the longer puller. You want one at least 3 feet long, with a solid handle, not a bent wire handle.
