If your running around local 300ish miles a day 1000-1200 isn't bad at all

No it ain't, and it won't be for a while. Inflation or not. 5 - 6 days of work with $5-6k revenue is not something to snort at yet. You can do better but if you do this much, your'e making a decent living still.

It is possible that some new owner ops, who just got in, say last year or so, would come here to create these threads to show off what big shots they are, and later "say no to cheap freight" threads, indignant of those who dare to undercut their rates but the fact is that they are the vulnerable ones. In fact, I consider them and those who added capacity to their existing fleets, to be the primary reason for any slow down to come.
I always say, it is market that tells you how much you will haul for, you don't get to tell the market how much it ought to pay you. The only thing they can do...Mr. or Mrs. Malcontent is to leave it or live by it. NOBODY GIVES A RAT'S ### ABOUT SOMEONE ELSES' BOTTOM LINE.

What will they do when $1000 doesn't feed one person for a week?

    1000 a day is trash.

I did some dedicated flatbed work in 2008. 1200 a day, 350 miles.

I don't book now for less than 1500 a day.

    More than that,that’s just insulting a driver’s intelligence…
Realistically, regardless if you have a new or used truck, paid for or have a note to pay off I wouldn’t go below $3.00 a mile-and even that might not be enough from the way fuel prices have been fluctuating.

Maybe ‘sticky’ this thread and review it in 5 years time.

    Who knows.

Many hands in here have 30+ years insight into the ebbs and flows.

Many like I with less than 10 have ‘opinion’

None of us have the crystal ball.
