Even if you don't break the 14 hour clock?
If so I'd call that a bug in the software.

Our PeopleNet does not show the DOT any violations. Period. They have to go through the logs that were downloaded to them and find any violations themselves. Showing the cops violations was not part of the mandate.

The reason I ask about no violations showing when in inspection mode is because I had the same thing happen at last company with motive eld and here's what the help site said Screenshot_20230827_173740_Chrome.jpg

I recently wondered the same thing. I went to the FMCSA website. The is a place there to manually type logs to look for violations. I typed up a scenario of a 5 hr break which stopped my clock. I then drove and logged off in Off duty.
    No violations were created.

Did you log any On duty or driving after? It likely would have been a violation then.
The violation is going On Duty without the required break. In that case a 7 hour Sleeper berth.

Do you mean going on the drive line with out showing a proper sleeper birth? There are no restrictions on on duty time, just driving.

I had this exact same issue with a Pedigree ELD at Greatwide. When I called the support fella at Pedigree told me "you took too long in the sleeper for the split". I kid you not, this is what he said to me. Nobody understood how or why I had a violation. When I took the rest of the split, the clock still showed I had almost an hour I could have continued driving. The violation seemed to be after the fact. The violation won't show when you send your logs to the DOT officer. ELD isn't meant to be a tattle tale device, the officer will still have to "look" for the violation(s). In my case the violation only appeared on my app for the ELD on my phone, but didn't show up highlighted or anything on the tablet itself.

Good thread! I’ll ask here instead of starting a new one.

About once a week I split break extending my day by 1-2 hours past my 14. I go into sleeper birth, start my break with 10-30 minutes of drive time left.

Then when I wake up some 8 hours later it’s showing that I have 2-3 hours drive available. Where does this drive time come from? Also when would those additional 2-3 hours become available? I drove 10.5 hours the previous day. I use Samsara.

Reason I ask is because occasionally I’ll get within 45 minutes of the yard but end up taking a full 10 as the few times I’ve noticed this phenomenon it’s been mid week and I’ve needed the full 11 after a 10 for that day.

Most major ELD providers support agents are useless numuts.

You have to tinker around with ELD to really get the hang of it.
