Its not just fuel optimization......... I wasn't going to post this because I don't like bad news but..... When I was in Van Buren 2 days ago I got "randomed" for a drug test. While I was waiting on the lady from Safety to escort me back for it, I overheard her discussion on the phone about Peoplenet. I asked what it was about and she told me that there are currently select drivers in two fleets trying e-logs right now. One is Qualcomm powered and the other is Peoplenet powered. She wouldn't give me a time frame but she said it was coming "soon." She said that the company preferred Qualcomm because the equipment was already in place but that studies showed that drivers preferred Peoplenet. When I gave (what I like to call) the "boo boo face," she asked me what was wrong. I told her that I prefer neither and that such things would signal my time to seek other employment. Her response was that it was becoming an industry standard. Uh huh, ok slow trucks I could deal with. Maybe e-logs I could deal with if the load planning matched up with them. As much as I like my FM and my workload, its still often too haphazard and I just don't trust them to plan accordingly yet. But now we are talking planned fuel stops and mandated routing too? No thanks. I'll hang on until the big switches come and then I will hang up the hat. If I'm going to run that much babysitting equipment then I will go work for Praxair or Tyson on an assigned route where it doesn't really matter. Its sad that they feel this is the way to save the company.
Yea, Ryder has Peoplenet. Schneider has Work Flow. As you can see by the responses I wasn't lying about Schneider. I worked for them back in 2000. I drove a ole cabover. That was when Don Schneider was watching out for us. Don isn't here anymore. The bean counters have taken over. So when you decide to split. Don't go to Schneider.

Klatu, mine is set to idle when temp is below 50 and above 70, truck has inverter also, have run bunk heater all night,no issues with batteries
Don't know what they expect you to do in states that don't have idle exemptions for temperatures. Don't know nany that do. I like my truck just the way it is. Since they don't seem to have a regular pm schedule anymore I don't think ill have to worry about it.
That's good. But you have to remember, Schneider has trucks with several million miles on them. The last one I drove for them had 975,000 miles on it. When the batteries start getting worn every so often the heaters won't last long. USA usually gets rid of their trucks around what 525,000 miles? 50 is not bad. Does it idle continuously? Or does it Icon? As long as they don't set the temp back too cold. Fill us in. If it idles continuously then it will keep you cool in summer. That's good. The people I work for now, I go out to about Midland. Then come back. I pull demountables. It requires the engine be running all the time because of the air compressor usage. So, I shouldn't have any issues with heat for awhile.
Ill keep repeating. If I can't be comfortable with the temp and humidity. If I can't have enough power to.operate a tv and small microwave. And they gripe about it ill find somewhere else to go work. I don't really require much. But these people go home to a big bed, hot dinner, and ac/heat. I already sacrifice being gone on the road all the time. I should be allowed some comfort in my down time. Ill see what the new systems are like before I plant my foot. But ill flip burgers before I sweat or freeze. If I want to heat up a dinner and watch a movie I'm going to.
