I have a company truck, so I don't want to damage anything or do anything permanent. The truck comes with a factory installed fiberglass CB antenna located behind the sleeper up near the top.
Is there some sort of mirror mount or anything else I can buy to mount a longer antenna? I've got the big plastic mirrors, so I'm not sure.
Any sort of direction would be appreciated.
2019 Pete 579 antenna mount options?

That’s what I’m in with same setup.
See thread on 579 Big Ears Loud Voice
1). Replace factory antenna with 5’ Skipshooter and SS 4” spring.
2). Can run RG8 coax into cab under sleeper (if has Pete inverter) at power lead grommet. Extra long run to overhead.
The antenna will get above trailer. Adjust for lowest SWR. I’ve had mine there since August.
Next, we’re all waiting for the machine shop in San Antonio to build the SS antenna mirror mounts for Clays Radio Shop.
Robert & I did the take-off in December.
You’ll be able to use a pair of 7’ Skipshooters.
Below is the 2015 I was in until changing to a 2019 a few weeks ago
Zata40 Thanks this. -
Awesome! Lots of info for me to work with. Thanks!
Slowmover1 Thanks this. -
Bob sells a bracket for that truck.

Interesting. I may have to try one of those out. Thanks!

I have one. And one is limited to a short antenna. (It would also need to be low wind load & weight).
The back of sleeper “problem” with an antenna that now gets above the trailer isn’t great, but IMO, it’s good enough until the mounts from Clays are ready. -
How many inches above the ground is the bracket? A short antenna out in the open should outperform a long antenna behind the cab.
-
Maybe.
The cost of bracket & antenna outweigh the benefit, IMO.
The 5’ Skipshooter plus 4” spring betters it for cost. And better coax could be run. No drill.
The mirror mounts will be the thing to wait for. -
Not if it's running parallel to a flat sheet metal surface. A 16-inch rubber ducky antenna on the top of my roof WILL outperform a 9-foot whip bolted to the catwalk behind the cab of your truck.
I'm sure a 4-foot Firestik would work just fine on that bracket. -
Cost of bracket
Plus cost of antenna
Plus cost of coax
Plus HOW to run coax
$100?
Versus $35 for a 5’ Skip & spring?.
