So I was hauling a load with two stops. One delivery drop took over 3 hours which caused my late arrival to the second and last drop. Because I was late, they couldn’t fit me in for appt and now the broker rescheduled for Tuesday due to Labor Day. I am forced to stay here for 4 days (original delivery was supposed to be yesterday) and you can imagine how much money I will be loosing for staying still for 4 days straight waiting for delivery.

Now, I am trying to get layover approved by broker ASAP, we have been chatting back and forth over email for the past 6 hours. Last thing he told me was that he is waiting for layover approval. I asked for $350/day, which is less than what I would be making if I was driving. What are my rights here? Can I refuse to deliver the load until they send new rate confirmation with layover time? Anyone has any input?

Good luck man, I would've been asking for $500 a day which is 1/2 of what I gross a day. It all depends on how trustworthy broker is and if you've been dealing with him before.

Hauled for them a few times. They got back to me offering $600 which is a joke. I told them I would go back home and they can take the load when I am paid for layover and the load itself.

Did you get compensated in your case?

This is why i’m glad i don’t mess with brokers.

I feel for you hand, i’ve been there in a company ride but was always lucky enough to pawn my mess off on someone else.

Go over the brokers head. Tell him you need to speak with his boss.
Is this a dry van or reefer?

They should contact a warehouse and you go there to unload. It happens pretty often.

My company does cross docks, short term storage, and redelivery fairly often and it’s always either what happened to you or someone trying to haul two loads.

Dry van. Everyone left, it's a weekend. Boss doesn't care. Will see what they say on Tuesday when the load needs to be delivered. I am not unloading or releasing the load until I am paid

There is no available warehouse to do that. The broker has been giving me a run-around for hours now

Where you messed up is you asked the broker to find a warehouse. That told him you lack the knowledge to do anything but accept whatever he is willing to give you. Find your own warehouse

I did not ask them to find it, I was looking myself. There are no available warehouses in the area that can take the load, I am in the middle of nowhere.
