The only thing is since the start the FMCSA has said it will be the carrier’s responsibility to be in compliance. So how many times can you get caught before non-compliance becomes an issue for your authority and insurance?

    Siinman Thanks this.

Radar? Logs? Until there’s a final rule published who knows what the process will be. I’m guessing any new truck after it passes will be set at whatever the speed is anyway, and automatic emergency braking is rolled into their proposed rules right now too.

The only good thing they’re talking about is a knowledge test for new entrant carriers.

    Siinman and blairandgretchen Thank this.

Going up hills will be a war zone of trucks trying to pass each other going 0.1 mph faster than the other

It’s bad enough now. I’m thinking back to the days of JB. Hunt and others governed to 55 mph, it was a mess on Fancy Gap, and 40/48 which is now I-68 Morgantown to Hancock, was a slow ride when it was still 2 lane in areas….

jason6541, Numb, Siinman and 2 others Thank this.

I look for the older trucks to be gotten by insurance honestly. Or the cost of it being so high we can’t afford it. I see that honestly with every Tom, dick and ball sack running out to buy something exempt. I think that may have calmed down. Many found that’s a money pit they are not willing to dig. Still sux for the hand full like myself. What I have works fine for what I do. Trading up doesn’t really make sense cause anything I can afford has the same problems as what I got. Just spent 70 to 100k for nothing in a way
