ive come to hate elogs in the short time tht ive had to use them. even on line 1 it will run your clock. ive been at shippers and went line 1 to try to save time and it still ate at my 14 hours. idk why it did or if it should have but it did

this might sound crazy but if they want the whole industry on elogs then i say make the shippers make adequate room for us to park there when we run out of hours caus ethey couldnt unload us in time

With our elogs, we can do any of the lines for up to 4 minutes or less and it will revert back to the previous status. I have heard of guys going to the sleeper for the 8 hour split, and driving down the road about 4 minutes, sitting for 5 minutes then going another 4 minutes and repeating, til they got to a good spot for their break.
Another guy went to the final but was turned around due to bad paperwork and drove down to the truck stop 4 minutes away on line 1. When he got there he changed the status from line 3 to line 1 and the time showed 4 minutes off duty.
One thing mine cannot do is have the truck moving when the elogs shows negative time. I pulled into the shipper and they could not load me for several hours but I could park and wait for them to call. 6 hours later I was out of hours but 1 hour after that they assigned me a dock door. As I moved over to the dock door I got hit with a log violation. Safety guy said 'plan better'.
Another violation I got when I pulled into the truck stop with 2 minutes left and took 4 minutes to get parked. Safety says when you see those signs on the side of the road 'No Parking Except in Emergency' -- running out of hours is an emergency. I say it's safer to go the extra mile or 2 to the truck stop and get out of the roadway so you don't get hit by some drunked driver.CAXPT Thanks this. -
i agree scottie. and i dont mean to cheat the log bad i jsut mean that in a situation like scottie's or a similar one it would be nice to not have to sweat your ### off trying to park when with a paper log that 2 minutes extra it took you to park would be no big deal

You have to go to sleeper to stop that clock on the elog.

Or the guard shack guy talking too slow when you're 20 miles from a truckstop and there's 30 minutes left on your clock... Stuck at a church For eight hours now, praise Jesus. Saved a load I repowered ast night so it's gonna be a good week though! Lol
