I agree, the punishments are too much for the crime which on paper logs were probably fair because it was so easy to falsify they figured 'let's make the fines extraordinary'. Now that we have ELD the fines need to drop significantly for minor time violations.

I've violated my hos several times on elogs, most that's ever happened to me was a mild talking to telling me top stop doing that. One you've violated them, the ticket is the same whether it's 2 minutes or 2 hours. Might as well finish your move safely and park up asap

Can't remember what would make it a eronious violation (think I misspelled eronious) but correct me if I'm wrong doesn't that carry a higher penalty?

I had an Iowa dot cop tell me that they considered anything beyond 2 hours egregious, had an Indiana dot cop tell me that they considered anything beyond 3 hours egregious.... so take that for what it is. The most ive ever violated was 15 minutes

But the video the OP posted,, I am sure that company has been on E-Logs for awhile... so this would be poor trip planning... wait till the last minute to find parking..

What are you doing while delayed at customer? Why aren't you searching all possible scenarios as to how far you can drive once released and will there be parking nearby?

Sometimes the poor reefer drivers have to count and make sure the produce is at correct temps so they on the clock...not getting paid and eating hours up and it still takes forever since the product is being cooled to the right temp., those places need to have parking for the drivers to take the break needed to get legal. they really should not be logging sleeper berth for them times because that is letting the companies to get free work from them.

In the truckload refrigerated sector I have come to a point I won't make a delivery appointment with less than 4.5 hours remaining on my 14 (past the appointment time). If I can't make that happen, my dispatch and safety office people is aware there may be a problem tomorrow when they come to work but I'm not stopping on the shoulder. If a motel [and associated parking] is the only option then they can expect to reimburse this. They can do what they feel they gotta do.
