That response was from someone that worked at A&R for four months. Each point is a little off, new trucks are not only for OTR but seniority will get them if they choose to when one is available. We have a few local guys driving 18/19 Petes and some Freightliners. They will let you choose from whatever trucks are available in the yard and if you have a preference to something else just be patient and one will become available.
I've heard the new Peterbilts have terrible turning radius which can be very important when delivering at some of these plants. I am in an 06 379 and I like it better than anything I've ever driven so I'll take the lack of fancy crap for that C15, no DEF and 13 speed manual. But that's just my preference.
I've had trucks with refrigerators, my current does not but I have a 12v cooler, it works good enough for regional.
A&R is an 8 out of 10 so far for me. Its tough, it takes some skill and a lot of focus. It has challenges you won't find while pulling most other freight but then it has limitations too. It's not for (insert the p word)ies.
Good luck and wear your PPE!

Got our trucks Monday and headed to Atlanta terminals for certification.

Cert was relatively easy. Big thanks to Mr. Barry!

Class was tu-thurs, around 8-4 ish.

Breakfast at hotel, lunch provided by a&r , you buy your own dinner

Terminal manager got us our first load for tomorrow

Some considerable difference from SNBC and A&R .

    Trucks run 68 foot/ 70 cruise
    63 on both with Schneider
    Detention pay is double $10/$22
Layover pay is double 65/ 150
Load and unload is 10-20 more ( unless you’re doing nuclear stuff at snbc)
If it’s available I get to choose my own power unit( Pete, kw etc)
I get to take off more per month without fuss
Sign on bonus with snbc is paid out over a year, A&R over a 3 months

    Coffey and motocross25 Thank this.
