Half of the 2015 trucks ordered were Automated Manual Transmission. All of the 2016 and above are Automated Manual Transmission. All 2015s are in the city except for some triple power trucks. If a city truck has a number that starts with 35 then it is a 2015. Many of the 2016 are headed for the city. I believe all of the 2016 will be in the city by year end.

One thing that you might want to consider is that ABF is going with driver facing cameras. Many drivers are opposed to having a camera on them so you might want to ask about that.

It was sure nice for this peddle hand to get a brand new ride, instead of one that got a few hundred thousand miles racked up on it by some linehaul driver. :p

Ten years from now virtually all trucks will be automatic. They are more efficient, and cost less in maintenance. If you fast forward ten more years, the truck will do most of the driving for you.

Well, I got 380K miles out of the first clutch in my last manual truck and 400K out of the second before I got my Pete, and they got 100K more miles on that clutch betore they retired the truck.

I’ll be interested to see if the clutch in this AMT lasts that long.

Well that's cause you know how to drive. Think about all the poor drivers who's company buys them hand-me-downs from Swift and CRE.

Right, where there may very be not 1 connection in the entire truck that doesn’t rattle.

I doubt they would put you in that position if the restriction was an issue...

There is also nothing stopping ABF with sending him back out with a manual truck and pup and having him retake the state test to get rid of that restriction.
