The FedEx freight in my area is hiring but at 21 dollars an hour and all the work being seniority based I said no thanks. The driver manager told me that his low guys are only making 25-30 hours a week during the winter months and won’t pick up till summer.

I start with ABF next month (Kernersvile, NC) When I had my sit down. Interview with Mr. Roberts, he let me know straight off the bat, that when I read the listings for 1st year road driver with ABF, the pay range is 65K-75K and that it was unrealistic. That during their slow periods that the drivers with seniority would get first chance at what is available. He said a more realistic salary for an ABF driver their first year with them was 60K. Also part of the union deal is company paid insurance with BCBS ...there would be like a $200 deductible and that's it.Good luck!

ABF is far better than FedEx Freight is , and probably will ever be. FedEx benefits, especially the healthcare, is very inferior to what ABF has, and ABF Freight insurance is 100% company paid. Where FedEx so called "insurance" is very expressive, with very high deductibles. I would gladly give up my 16 years at FedEx Freight to start over at ABF. If any company desperately needs a union, it's FedEx.
