So I had never heard of this company and the wife gets on FB and starts probing a bit.
They came up as a great company to work for according to several people. It's not exactly what I'm looking for but I've got to keep my options open.
They even got some raving reviews here.
So, if worse comes to worse and I have to go OTR, how are they to new drivers? Not only pay but benefits. Matching 401K? How's the home time? Can the wife join me?
It appears they were recently bought out and that can change a companies culture in a heartbeat (One of the many reasons I'm switching careers).
Thanks everyone. I know I'm asking a lot and I do appreciate the help.

Ok, so here is my story...
(take it for what it’s worth)
Got my CDL down here in FL but didn’t start OTR until we moved to NC. With the help of @Chinatown I found myself looking very hard at Abilene... I think I contacted 3 of the 5 companies that he suggested but quickly settled in on Abilene.
I went through their training, as I had no experience. It had some ups and downs and a fair share of miscommunication with the recruiter, but not enough to chase me away.
I was there for almost two years and then opted to get out of the truck but it wasn’t anything Abilene did to piss me off or anything.
As mentioned above, I am now looking to return to OTR and Abilene is the only company on my mind. That may be a bit narrow sighted on my part but I know them and I like them.
Now, to be honest, Drivers experiences with Abilene varies all over the place... some love it, some don’t care for it... some are in sync with the way the company runs and are successful... others, for a variety of reasons, either can’t or won’t get in sync and they struggle. I was told, and now I agree, it takes a full year to get in sync for those that are going to be successful there.
As to changes since being bought out, since I wasn’t there and not currently there, I can’t say one way or the other... but I have heard mostly good things from the other Drivers in the above mentioned thread... there have been some good changes like bonus CPM for hitting certain goals... but I am sure there are other not so great changes but I doubt much from what I’ve heard so far.
As to your direct questions, yes they have all the normal benefits... I wasn’t in the plans so I’m not up on the details.
Hometime... again varies by driver but I only missed one hometime request and it was my first as a solo driver. They worked very hard to get me places especially when I “had to be there”... I think they make hometime a priority there and I think most drivers will attest to that.
Family used to be able to ride along but unsure if or how that may have changed in the merger but I can find out for sure for you. -
The only noticeable change since the buyout was that TA/Petros are now authorized fuel stops in addition to Pilot/FJ. If there were other changes, I didn't notice them.
