several companies i had worked at, i would always be told, to use up every picture on those disposable cameras.

however, each company forbid taking pics of the people in the car, or at the scene.

i said to myself, "screw it, if they're gonna sue me for injuries, i want the lawyers to see that they are standing and walking around"

that was MY way to handle any accident, if i ever had one.

as it was, the most i'd have to use the accident cameras for, was for damaged freight, if it wasn't loaded correctly or forks thru the walls....

and those accidents cameras always have like 36 pictures to take, and man, i'd use them all up....as per THIER direction to always use up ALL the film...lol

i had a guy trying to pull me over. No i did not stop. The guy then pulled in front of me and kept braking to try and stop me that way, I downshifter and got on the hammer and went in other lane and went around. He then called the company becuase the name was on the door. My boss called me and said the guy says a rock fell off my truck and broke the windshield. I called bull on that. I kept going to the job and noticed the guy followed and sat at the entrance while i was on the phone with boss. I told me boss to tell the guy to call the police then becuase im not going to entertain his argument. Well guess what, the guy took off and nothing came from it. Moral to the story, NO! i dont pull over for people trying to flag me down for anyreason. I only pull over for the police. Alot of frauds out there trying to get free windshields or repairs on truckers dimes when the truck never did it. They just hope for a quick payout.
Even if a cop did show up, there has to be evidence.

Had a guy years ago tell me a piece of steel fell off my flatbed trailer and bust his windshield.
I called the law on an old bag phone I had for emergancy, law showed up, I showed him my BOL and my shortest piece was 40’ long.
Officer told him, “If that would of hit your car, it’d do more than bust that window.”

then officer checked and guys car was due for an inspection, officer told me to have a nice day, he’d take care of it. Last I have ever heard and this was years ago..

I have been on both sides of this issue. I have had people to call my company on me for rocks etc. I have no idea if any payments were ever made. However, I have also been on the other side. Way back years ago I was driving my POV on Ga HYW 365 in Habersham county headed home after a long time out west. I was tired and really not in a great mood. I caught up to a truck hauling what looked like material to be grounded up into mulch and was not properly covered. That crap was flying everywhere and I got hammered by some, and it busted the heck out of my windshield. I also need to be honest here. I had a small crack just under the wipers that was not really visible and was not blocking my line of sight. I turned my CB on and told the driver he needed to stop. He did and he also called his boss. I really was not fishing for a new windshield just trying to keep that guy from further trouble. I gave the boss my telephone number and went home. I got a phone call from that guy wanting me to go back to Gainesville (about 45 miles away) so he could meet me at a place to replace the windshield. The guy was a jam up decent person and I was honest with him about the windshield already being damaged. So I went on down there but on the way decided to pay half of the bill. When I got there the guy and I agreed to split the cost, he asked me if I was happy and I said I was.

Moral of my story? Not everybody that says they were hit by debris is scamming. A driver should know what they are hauling and act accordingly. Also leaving the scene (MIGHT) cause you issues later. Road hazards are not generally considered something that the carrier has liability for. Just be careful about just ignoring someone that flags you down. In ALL such situations call Law Enforcement and get photos while waiting.

Making a turn and something fell off, can also be that your tires ran over something already on the ground and the tandems picket it up and that is what hit them.

Yup dont say a thing. Shrug your shoulders. You did what you are supposed to do. Crap happens. Not your fault. There are also gold brickers out there that want to make money off of the trucking industry. Get on with your life. Think about the positive stuff in life of all the people that make you happy.

    Life goes on.
