I used both this site’s test and the one in the quote to help pass my combination, tanker and doubles & triples tests as I already had my class B license. I only got 1 question wrong don’t remember on what part.
As said just about word for word for the tests. I now need to study for my HAZ MAT test.

Thanks for all your help guys!! When I take the CDL A course, is it just the general knowledge test or does it include combination and air brake questions too?

Best thing to do is check with your state DMV to see but I believe it is 3 different test.
You need to take the general knowledge test for both class A & B
You need to take the air brake test to drive any truck that has air brakes like most if not all tractor trailer trucks.
You need to take the combination test if you want to drive a class A truck like a tractor trailer. If you did not you would have a class B license for a straight truck of 26,001 lbs or more.
If you get a class A license you can drive the lower class B truck but if you have a class B license you can not drive the higher class A truck.

You can add a tanker endorsement to both licenses (A&B) and HAZMAT to both too.
Doubles & triples endorsement only to the class A license.
Think I got that all right

I walked into the California DMV to renew my license the other day. Just a simple eye test, thumb print pay a small fee and a Hazmat test.

It is very cool now, no paper test any more, everything was computer touch screens like voting booths. Multiple guess type questions. I was scored wrong on one of the questions, I believe I got it right but there is no way to contest it because if you leave the station the test is over. Not like on paper you might have a chance to prove your case.

The question was pertaining to the order the materials need to be listed on the shipping papers. I put down the choice calling for ID# (UN number) then Shipping Name, then Hazard Class then Packing Group. The computer put up a big red X like I'm on Family Feud or something. The test claims Shipping Name goes first.

I passed the test so I ain't tripping too hard.

I actually thought the practice test questions were harder than the questions at the DDS. When i could pass the tests here with ease, i knew i was ready for the real thing!

The practice tests are very similar to the real thing, and as already mentioned some DMV answers are inaccurate / outdated. Why they can't update the test a decade after the rules change is above my pay grade to know.

Yup. I used the ones on cristcdl.com too. 95% is about my guess too. I thought the general knowledge and air brake tests were right on (if you did all of them...you should be good to go for VA). I thought the combination vehicle test was a bit different though. I had to go back over the DMV book to fill in some holes.

Hazmat, doubles and triples, and tankers...I thought those were good as well. The way I'd put it...if you can get to where you can nail all of those tests at 90%+ each time AND look over your state DMV book...you should be good to go.
