Sorry - but I’ll pass judgement here - hang it up.
If I was the damaged truck, guard rail, toll booth, or employer - then I’d be rather inconvenienced by your attempts to start your career.
@Chinatown - take note of this one before you send others hap hazard into the industry - lives are at stake.
THE WHOLE POINT OF THIS GAME IS TO DELIVER FREIGHT SAFELY.
End of F*****G STORY.Tug Toy, Just passing by, magoo68 and 3 others Thank this. -
Sorry - don’t be offended snowflakes, I just made it home surrounded by weather conditions that were difficult, and a whole heap of stupid.
The stupid split was “95% your family members, and 5% my brethren drivers”.
I don’t need 5% increasing to 10%.
Good luck. -
#1) Inexperience, your fault, trainer did right calling it in. But minor. No biggie.
#2 trainer should have been spotting you, but ultimately you are in control of the vehicle. Your job to get out and look.
#3 & 4 Your fault. If the roads have oce shut it down.Just passing by and blairandgretchen Thank this. -
Hmmm. The Trucking Gods are against you. They just gave you a sign to get out if it before it is too late. I was not a saint either when first started, bumped into someone here, scratched something there....but they the Gods were not mad....they did not tell me to report every little bitty Mickey Mouse Arse thing either... like scratching a mirror against a yellow post.

It would not matter...The Trucking Gods....
See the problem is that the op is a typical, unfortunate, poor fellow who does not need to stay out of trouble because the trouble finds him anyway. .At least, and I hope, that only in the truck driving world. -
I hit stuff doing training. Generally I get more hits from trainer who isnt a snitch unless it is truly something that cannot be fixed in knot school.
The second is preventable. Newbies should not play on ice just yet. There are many ways the earth will take hold of your rig and slide it right off. You are lucky the rail is there and not a 2000 foot fall. (If there was one, I hope you have sense to out...)
The rest of them... eh it's damage and more damage.
Ive had accidents yes, but I only had a handful of really bad OMG accident accident. (Plural) The company really dont wanna hear the story about the famous concrete curb that cost 1000 dollars to fix. But they most certainly wanna hear about that lawsuit in my record involving my company and me no less as defendants.
Today, you have to document everything that has gone bad. By name, who said exactly what, when why, how and where. Even getting a new appt time should not be tried in federal court. You need a new appt time because your HOS says you aint got the time to get there legally. If you learn that you have a obtuse dispatcher who refuses to honor your appt time requests (And better yet flips it around on you somehow you did wrong and think about getting fired? some company...)
Im not here to be difficult.
I once took two coils aluminum standing up on pallets. I had no wood securement in sight at logan which was a massive facility that took up two Kentucky hollers. And there was a big box store in town a hour as the crow flew to get more of that wood, nails etc. But no. I did not think on that.
So I laid two chain in front of the pallets on deck for stopping holding. (Yah right... 16000 pound silver gorillas go when and where they want to.)
I actually made it to just about 4 miles from the customer in Williamsburg (Busch) when a redneck peeled out of his dirt drive way in front of me. I had a choice to make with them loose coils back there and made it. A great deal of rumble back there. Now I am all up on the drives and nothing on the trailer.
The yelling got started when they saw the pitiful securement back there. The pallets damage upset them so much.
Trust me, when you put a wheel out onto a road somewhere something will happen. Don't think it wont.
If you want proof, start typing something on these forums. Someone will be back atcha soon enough ha... -
I'm stuck on #3, I don't seem to get it straight in my mind what being on an incline has to do with sliding into a guard rail while making a left.
Also I hope the OP answers another question - where in Michigan did this happen?x1Heavy Thanks this. -
Dude?!? Really? This guy can’t drive. Read the descriptions of all the (MANY) accidents. No instincts!!!
Can’t save em all. Though I do respect you for thinking positively. -
California trucking companies will hire you. You should see how 90% of the "Professional" Drivers drive here.
::Just an edit here::
On a serious note these companies that train you for your CDL or hire you fresh, just want you in there making them money.. Most of the 'Trainers' are even bigger morons than the rookies who can't drive.. Because lets be honest, I don't know ANY experienced guy who would want some random rookie, actually just anyone in their truck in the first place. I think you should sit down and ask yourself if you started truck driving because it was a passion, or if you tried trucking because you were desperate for a job. When I was in truck driving school about 14 years ago, you could tell the people who got it, and who didn't and you really need to think about it if you were one or the other. Good luck though man
