Hello, I just parked my semi truck and went back to wrenching. What's the latest and greatest air tool oil out there these days?
Back in the day (2004) we used to use Marvel Mystery Oil in a small tip bottle. What are mechanics using these days?
Thanks guys,
Sophia

I always have a pistol grip oil can on my box which usually has engine oil in it which I use for a lot of different tasks including my air tools. Usually it has whatever bulk engine oil is coming out of the big shop tank. That’s what I use and get good life and wear. Better than any air tool oil IMO.

I honestly rarely ever put oil in my air tools and don't really have any problems. Been using the same 3/8" and 1/2" impacts and my die grinders daily for going on a decade now with no problems.

It helps if you have a good clean and dry source of compressed air. Way more important than oiling. Water and rust will kill even the best of air tools in a heart beat.Big Road Skateboard, blairandgretchen and AModelCat Thank this.

I grease the bearings in them every couple weeks. I have a special little grease gun for it.blairandgretchen Thanks this.

Air is kinda old school. Many using cordless these days. Cordless lights are also great.

They both have their place. Electric is nice for convienience and on quick jobs. Air tools shine because they have more consistent output, aren't limited by battery life/recharge times and are usually much more compact.

Yes, my air pressure operated light wasnt up to the task of illuminating my work area, thats why I swapped to battery...
I lie, i have only ever had about 4 air tools and only break them out if I absolutely must, If I had a proper shop I might consider more/a good compressor, but I dont.Rubber duck kw Thanks this. -
I just buy what my locate hardware store has instock. Usually Chicago Pneumatic or some other brand. Air tool oil off the Snappy truck isn't expensive either. Couple of drops each time before you use it. It lasts forever.

I bought a Quart of it yesterday.
