They let drivers with less than one year experience pull triples? Wow!

    road_runner Thanks this.

Yup. It's a new era of drivers my friend. :biggrin_25525:
I actually started out going straight to pulling triple trailers.

On a side note, I got 10 years of military driving experience before I got out. I have only been driving commercially for about a year. Only difference I noticed is I have to stop at scales now, and keep log books, aside from that, it seems the same. I got about a good quarter of a million miles of prior driving, but I still consider myself a rookie when it comes to working for a profit driven carrier vs moving stuff on behalf of national security.

1st Thanks for your service, from 1 veteran to another RR, not trying to judge what you did .....I was not there. But by the description you gave I see both ends. Yes trying to be courteous to folks is always nice, but in some cases, as you found out not the safest thing to do. Its really hard to tell on a case by case ,when you can be the good guy and let folks in , but in this instance it would have been a good idea to slow down and let her in and then regain your speed. I've never pulled triples but I'm sure it is a challenge, but in the future it may be a good idea to sacrifice some speed and a little time, just for safety's sake if nothing else, Remember she may be and probably is somebodies Mom.

I'd be worried also driver, but only because its easy to do that out here, and as mentioned previous the LTL time tables between terminals is just insane. If you are worried your company will cut you loose regardless? Anything is possible, but unlikely unless you are on a actual probation warning. Sounds as if you need to just step back a bit and assess the overall situation in all its variables. To give you an idea, was following a Yellow Truck linehaul back from North Dakota some yrs back, we were driving real slow on a rutted out icy interstate, the storm had just passed few hrs back, well here comes flying up this old ford rear wheel drive car up the left lane, the Yellow driver had moved over there to slowly pass an even slower 4 wheeler, the Ford driver was having nothing with that, virtually hanging on the rear of that last trailers ICC bar. I radio the Yellow driver this car is just back of his last trailer, he acknowledges, slowly traipses back to the right, and just as the last trailer axle clears the lane, the Ford guns it, looks to be going, then all of a sudden the front end jumps over to the right, snatches on to the Yellows ICC and just hangs there . My eyes are popping, am also trying to slow way back, this was a dear jesus incident in the making, okay so I radio up ahead, tell the driver, hey man, that Fords looking to be part of your linehaul now. WHAT? he says, yeah you are sure dragging her right along.
Yellow driver says, I am going up that exit ramp coming up, right into the rest area, now I am going to tell anyone that icy crusty crap causing the rutted lanes were just plain bad that early morning, 20mph was a fast speed, and it was making us do that jig back and forth, so as he goes to make the exit, ends up bouncing over the ruts, the trailer bounces too, sends that ford a spinnin, she must have shot another 50yds sideways down the interstate, made that inevitable dip straight into the center dividing area. So, thats real drama, and was the Yellow driver even questioned much? Not really.

Screw that lady. You stated she dropped her mobile device? It was probably that mobile device that caused her accident. I don't understand why people feel the need to be on their phones while driving. Hopefully she learned a lesson!
