My Truck did not have the Sensor yet, had to have a PM this weekend and they were going to install one, gave them the keys and said "no thanks", DBL said that if I was on a 34 and the Batteries died Schneider would pay for a Motel, this whole thing had more to do with Schneider attitude than the actual sensor "Unplug everything and go sit in the Drivers Lounge", I say "thank you but there are too many other Companies that do not have the sensor and will pay the same mileage as you with a differant attitude"

I dont see window screens as comfort items. If not allowed to idle, then they become tools to affect safety. If i cant sleep because the temperature in the truck is not conducive to a good nights rest, I am not a safe driver. Its a small expense to ensure driver safety.

I say ALL current drivers should send in messages every morning after coming off your 10 hour break first message everyday should be one telling your dbl that because of the inconveinience of the sensor you were only able to sleep for xx number of hours and as ALL drivers do this they should get the big picture. Well we would hope. LOL

Well if I do come back it will be on the O/O side so the sensor wouldn't be an issue. But I'm not sure if I will come back or not.....

I've been familiar with Schneider for a number years. They trained me in 2001 and I stayed with them for four years. I have several friends still there. First off IMO, these big companies....corporate decisions and a job such as truck driving don't mix. Schneider bases their decisions off the simple fact that a good percentage of their drivers are honoring a contract in exchange for training. That right there opens up a whole bunch of clever "money saving" tactics. There's really no incentive to stay there and play their games if you don't have too. Maybe a few rare instances with a dedicated account or something but drivers can simply make more money, be home more, and not have to sleep in a freezer with another company. I guess that's the whole plan since Schneider is just a trucking school once again.

Its called an idle arm and i had to use one when i started with schneider over 17 years ago. Geuss I'll hve to go dig it out of the closet now, seems like we are going backwards here. Whats next cabovers and no cruise to go with the no miles lol. Sadly after all this time I see no choice but to seek a greener pumkin patch

Female Driver Thanks this.

You could be like me and at a T/S south of GB with a broken / inop bunk heater......what then? Fortunately, they haven't installed the sensor yet (nor repaired the bunk heater).
Frankly, under normal circumstances, I'm all for it......saving the planet and what have you......but if I had one right now, I'd be screwed. -
