At the dealer, service writer comes in and tells me that their diagnostic tool to test my truck broke and they ordered a new one. It will be here tomorrow, then they can finish testing my truck, then fix it. My life is a never ending version of "Groundhog Day"

You should be in a hotel, not their parking lot.

My 579’s have been hit or miss. Just nursed mine 3100 miles with a bad O2 sensor. Wouldn’t build more than 20 psi of manifold pressure and only got it home because my load was light. Peterbilt service is non existent and that alone would prevent me from ever buying one. We’ve got 300 579’s and purchase about 20 per month off the line in Denton. So Rush Truck Center is pretty good about getting their service truck over to our yard. But on the road…..forget about it. I stopped in Flagstaff and Bakersfield and was told “it’ll be next week until we can look at it” If you did say that you would be waiting then I’m sure they would get to you sooner but still I’m not the least bit impressed with Peterbilts service network.

I do enjoy driving the truck when it’s not flashing service lights and threatening a derate. Good build quality and even our 600k mile trucks ride nice and don’t have that tired worn out feeling. I thought 10 years ago “by 2016….they’ll have all of these DPF related bugs sorted out” not quite yet in ‘22.

I am now. I made the executive decision to head to a hotel, called the breakdown department and told them via voice mail what's up...and when he called the right number finally (he has been calling my house not my cell) he authorized my stay once he confirmed that my truck was in a state of disassembly.

Yeah I’m afraid as I put miles on my Paccar powered T680, the Pete 567 had an X-15 in it, I’m not counting on a bright future engine wise…

Hey Snackbar, what’s the latest on your tractor? Hopefully they can get parts quickly.

And the drama continues. This dealer orders specific tools from Cummins (even though this is for a PACCAR motor). Between the time Cummins received it, and sent someone to deliver it to the KW dealer, they LOST it (or that's what they're telling KW), so they have reordered it and the dealer is sending their shop manager over to pick it up in the morning so it doesn't disappear too. And I can't even get mad or depressed...I just sit here with an insane persons smile shaking my head in utter disbelief.

I hear ya, took a fiend of mine 4 days to get an injector replaced. We so badly need more independent shops, the dealerships are a joke! Glad you’re at least in a hotel.

Sounds like the luck I have when I drop mine off at Penske for service.
