Nice back in the day the Massachusetts State Police used to use those on the turnpike to catch speeders. They mounted the radar on a shelf in the back window which they tinted and just waited for someone to come by speeding thinking it was a driver making a call or taking a break lol.

good: lane departure is so quiet you can’t even hear it if the radio is on. It’s also run through its own set of speakers. Enough said.

The automated manual, while kind of slow, does make it an absolute breeze to drive. Just set the cruse for the most part and aim the thing down the road.

Headache rack is decent, not at much space as my last one though. For most of the fleet it’s a huge improvement over the open racks.

slow speed maneuvering, one of my complaints about my last auto, is greatly improved with what they call “urge to move” once you put it in gear and take you’re foot off the brake, it is moving. Very similar to when you let the clutch out at an idle. I’ll be interested to see how it works with a heavy load backing up hill.

The truck is #### quiet, you hardly can hear the engine even under full load.

Not ideal: the collision mitigation is not over bearing. It only really talked to me once in some “heavy” rush hour traffic in green river Wyoming. Both lanes were loaded and I went to pass a truck who hung me out to dry in the left lane after he woke up. I had to slow down and cut in behind him, the lane departure really did not like that.

they ordered the truck with a 5’ fifth wheel slider, it’s mounted way to far forward. All the way back is only slightly behind center of the drives. We “need” the fifth wheel centered over the rear axle on occasion. They may or may not move it for me.

bad: the truck is an absolute dog. My last truck and this truck are both supposed to be 500hp with similar gearing. This truck feels like it’s at least 20% less powerful. I wonder if Wylie didn’t mess with some parameters.

that leads me to my next point, the truck won’t idle between 0 and 100 degrees. That ####ing apu better NEVER give me a bit of trouble. Or it’s hotel time.

speaking of apu, it has an oil leak that has to be fixed when I get home Monday.

three times today when I was just cruising on flat ground with the cruse set on 68 the trucks would down shift two gears, red line the motor, and cancel the cruse. Maybe that’s there way of breaking the motor in.

the adaptive cruse works pretty well, my only complaint is when it needs to apply the brakes, it pulses them very hard. I wonder if it can’t apply light steady pressure. It’s less that ideal.

Yeah with what you haul the 455 hp setting will take some getting used to, we tried a few out on heavy haul loads just to get a feel and it didn’t go all that well.

I know when I’m over dimensioned on a machine I have a hard time holding speed on even the slightest upgrade, but the fuel mileage is normally over 7mpg bettering my Cummins truck.

I hope your trucks don’t have the injector problems as I understand Paccar now has a redesign they are rolling out. Otherwise yeah enjoy driving with your left thumb lol.

That’s the last car my grandfather had before he passed away. I agree on not buying a new car these days. Looks nice

I can see police doing that..car has same engine...that was later used in...Cobra Mustangs

Are they out yet? My ‘23 579 won’t run unless I dump a gallon of injector cleaner into the tanks every week. I got a check engine light at 30k miles and a severe miss up in the PNW. Somehow got it back to Texas where they pulled and cleaned the injectors. It will not run without cleaner but thankfully has been doing fine….just hit 90k miles.

I had heard they were talking about this winter for the new injectors. I’d be livid if I was an O/O dealing with this. I drive for a 300 truck tanker company and Rush Truck Center thankfully has a mobile tech permanently assigned to our equipment.

Yeah I’d check with the tech to be sure if the exact. I believe new trucks come with updated injectors and the retrofit will in fact take forever.

That's because they have to satisfy new customers first so they buy the new trucks...the trucks they already sold are taken care of once the new parts are in abundance. I mean, what are they existing customers gonna do, bring it back for a refund. By the time the current customers are ready to buy again, they will have forgotten about being on the waiting list, unless more issues like this occur.

Nice find!

Before trucking, I sold the Lincoln-Mercury line. I still love the VIIs and VIIIs. And I refuse to drop new car money on a vehicle as well. Outrageous.
