Heck you can take your hands off the wheel for short periods of time and it holds the lane. Ours have the software that anticipates hills and shifts into neutral accordingly…

These don't have the auto-steer, but that stupid E-coast crap has just about driven me insane. It cuts off so far from the top of the hill, I am down in the upper 50's mph by the top(cruise set at 68), then it e-coasts to 71, and then goes into "oh ####" mode, slams it down to 10th gear and throws the jakes on at 2300 rpm. Also, it hates 11 th gear. When cruising in congestion, I keep it on low jakes because if you have to ease of the throttle in order to keep the front nag from blowing your ears out, if you don't have the jakes on, it e-coasts you closer...then #####es at you. So instead of using engine/drive train drag to back off, you have to use service brakes. If I have my jakes on low going 55-60 in 12th and ease up, it jumps to 10th, I bump it to 11th, then it shifts back to 12th, I bump it down to 11th, it drops to 10. At that speed, 11th and low jakes gives you the right drag to back off traffic without backing off too much. I fought that all thru Indy, Columbus and that last stretch of 70 in PA right before you get on the turnpike in New Stanton. Plus this POS has the side scan radar. If you move over one lane to let on some traffic, sometimes it picks up the guard rail on the other side of the grass past the paved shoulder. Today, when getting off to get fuel, sitting still in the left lane with the left turn signal, out of the blue, it went off because it saw te guard rail on the other side of the right turn lane. Honestly, I think the software engineers that program the system that they load into the ecm's at Freightliner must ride to work on the short bus shuttle from the special school.

that truck would probably have less issues and be more reliable than most of todays automated nanny-mobiles
