I'm not an engineer but I was a kid and did some stupid things with my friends on the ranch during the summers, and currently I consider myself kind of smart. I can look at this thing and tell you it was going to end badly for somebody. Not a matter of if, but when. I'm surprised most can maintain their trajectory along the same path as the slide if they were to get a little panicky and/or wobbly. Good grief. Who saw this concept and said "Yes, here's $400k dollars, build it and let paying customers hurdle off of it with their fingers crossed"

It's because we live in a world where the envelope HAS to be pushed to the extreme.

Everything must hasve a "fear" factor with a chance of bad consequences..

Nope, a 50' slide just isn't high enough for todays standards.....

You Notice the engineers building all these "Flyover ramps everywhere? Especially in Texas?

Theres No reason you need a 1 lane Flyover ramp going 120 feet in the air 3/4 mile long...I'll be awaiting the Next Panic attack by someone stopping their car right on top of one of those causing a catastrophe.

We Just can't keep anything simple and easy anymore.

Lots of people get deathly afraid on that bridge north of Mobile on I-65. Something about that bridge that is a bit un-nerving.

I clicked on the link above that goes to the "slide's site" and now I see it is "enclosed" all the way down when you look at other images and views. Curious to know how the poor kid died. Got to be hard for the family. Just trying to let their kids enjoy their last days of summer out of school and they trusted everything would be fine and they'd have lot's of fun.

There are some people so afraid of crossing bridges that entrepreneurs have been capitalizing on this for a while now.

I've had to cross that ##### Chesapeake bridge once with an empty trailer and a strong crosswind... I was pretty much puckering the whole way across. Loaded it's not bad.

Same here. The bridge and tunnel aren't exactly the best designed structures. And then of course there's the Tampa Bay Sunshine Skyway Bridge. If the crosswinds (and the occasional waterspout) doesn't get you, the tolls sure as hell will.
