It is not a question of experience, it is a question of health and mental. Especially if you've been trucking for years, nothing healthy about sitting on your kiester all day with little or no movement. Aren't older people more prone to Alzheimer's and heart conditions as they age.
Imagine these "big truckers" who aren't so old now, but are a little on the "heavy side", now imagine that same guy 10 or 15 years from now still trucking.
Another Indiana construction zone wreck

I get a 2 year everytime. Whats with the age discrimination, if you where race discriminating you whould be banned. Age has the same protections. Try reading a book or getting an education. Your youthful ignorance is shameful
G13Tomcat, cnsper, 12 ga and 1 other person Thank this. -
it ain't the age or the race, it's the fines haven't raised with inflation.
Any speeding ticket should be $ 600 minimum,
Plus all the big trucks now a days with the driver holding their phone way up in air playing on it.magoo68 Thanks this. -
First off reread my post.
The guy is is 64yrs old, should he be driving a CMV?
That was my post, means an assessment must be made.
Questions must be asked and answered.
Does said person suffer from any of the following?
Sleep apnea?
Early stages of Alzheimer's?
Any heart conditions?
Attention deficit?
Poor circulation?
People with diabetes can start to lose eyes sight.
This isn't the old days anymore, those days are long gone.
People nowadays are prone and can suffer from more diseases than ever before.
Having someone on the road who is scared of losing their job is dangerous, I feel for them. Everyone gets old, everyone is prone to something, including myself.tucker Thanks this. -
A former neighbor had been retired from trucking since before I started (in the 90's) and he was as quick thoughted and healthier than me. He actually was on the 2nd retirement. Drove for Ryder or Penske driving a big truck for ever, retired, then went back and shuttled the rental trucks for them for another 8 or 10 years. Then his wife said enough, you're 87...take a break. So, he retired, slowed down and started a firewood log splitting business in between his 2 bowling leagues and volunteering with Hospice.
NavigatorWife, G13Tomcat, cnsper and 5 others Thank this. -
What is more shameful is a driver who has medical conditions but wants to continue driving, put you, me, and everyone else in danger.
