um.... correct me if I’m wrong but I’m pretty sure it’s legal to pass a left turning vehicle on the right? Even on a two lane. Not defending the lady as she was obviously impatient. Also, the truck veered right for no reason, so that doesn’t help his situation in my opinion. That is known as a jug handle turn and that is not the correct way to turn. My two cents LOL
It is legal, and it seems the driver might have been purposefully veering right to prevent the pass. Not sure I’d share that video with the other insurance co.
It's legal to pass on the right IF The left turning vehicle... A: has the left turn signal on AND. B; Has stopped or slowed. AND C: It's SAFE to do so..
If there’s a lane it’s legal, illegal on the shoulder. Hard to tell if that’s considered one or two lanes. Truck really didn’t need to swing right, looks like he had plenty room, he almost hit the car.
He may have also been moving to the right giving that other truck was pulling out of the driveway a little extra room
That depends on the locality... In ID it is legal to pass a left turning vehicle on the right shoulder as long as the pass can be completed without leaving the roadway. Or at least it was 20 some years ago when I went through drivers ed.
Yes, I noticed that too, but I don’t think that makes it ok. From the car’s perspective, the truck was about to make a left (and I am assuming the truck had his left signal on for the sake of argument), she had room to go around, why would she expect the truck to suddenly veer right when he is turning left? Think 4 wheeler mentality here lol. This is why truck drivers are taught to turn buttonhook style, not jug-handle. I stand by my opinion that the truck was in the wrong here. The text on the dashcam footage says, “she claimed our driver hit her while turning.” And that’s pretty much exactly what happened. And for what it’s worth, I turn the same way all the time, but I at least make sure no one is next to me when I do it.
